2018 is filled with anniversaries. The most important among them is the anniversary of South Ural State University. The year of 2018 for SUSU is the year for summarizing intermediate results of everything that has been done within 75 years of successful activity in the sphere of education, science and student life. In this period, we recall history, memorable events and amazing people whose life is connected with the university.
On April 18th and 19th Donor Day will be held at South Ural State University, and anyone willing will be able to donate blood. The event will be held from 8:00 to 13:00. This time the event is dedicated to National Donor Day celebrated on April 20th.
Donors are people who voluntarily, because of their kind-hearted generosity, give their blood to people. The word “donor” comes from the Latin donore meaning “I give”. Only healthy individuals who complete a rigorous medical examination can give blood. The health of each donor is checked before every blood draw.
From the 9th through the 14th of April, the SUSU team took part in an education program of SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management entitled “A model of globally competitive university” and targeted specifically at managerial teams of the universities participating in Project 5-100.
April 17th through April 20th, the 15th Green Apple International Youth Festival of Marketing, Advertising and PR-communications starts at the Department of Marketing of the SUSU School of Economics and Management.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Activity Hall of SIGMA Education and Recreation Building on April 17th at 14:00.

A true New Year holiday got celebrated by students at South Ural State University.
In the middle of April (on 13th or 14th day), when the sun moves from the twelfth house of the zodiac (the sign of Pisces) to the first house (the sign of Aries), Sri Lankan people celebrate their national New Year - Aluth Avurudda. This holiday is celebrated by two Sri Lankan nations: Sinhalese and Tamils. The New Year signifies harvest of rice and symbolizes the end of one solar cycle and the beginning of the new one.
In September, a unique-for-Chelyabinsk Laboratory of Simulation Learning entitled “Efficient Production” is planned to be opened on the grounds of South Ural State University’s School of Economics and Management. Every day athletes experience serious physical loads, that is why it is important for them to constantly monitor their health status. To obtain indices of the functional state of athletes in a distance mode and at all training periods, the scientists of South Ural State University have created a system of simplified and continuous electrocardiogram tracing.

During decades, the Soviet Union was proud with the success of its cosmonautics, including the flight of the first-in-the-world female astronaut Valentina Tereshkova, walking into the open space, and the longest flight in the history of cosmonautics. There are thousands of people and tens of working teams standing behind successful flights and doing everything they can for the progress of space industry.
Student Leader of the Chelyabinsk Region 2018 Contest wrapped up on South Ural. April 6th through April 8th, 11 representatives of the Region’s institutions of higher education fought to win and gain the right to pass on to the district rounds. Students Aleksandr Pryadein and Ivan Nekrasov represented SUSU.

On April 12th Russia celebrates Cosmonautics Day to commemorate the first space flight performed by Yuri Gagarin. The event is organized by international students of SUSU under support of Association of International Students and the International Affairs Division of South Ural State University.
In 2018 South Ural State University is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. The university has passed a long way of development over this period of time, and brought up several generations of talented scientists recognized not only in Russia, but abroad as well. Moreover, the university is represented by whole dynasties of scientists, among which is Tashchev family. The total record of service of its three generations in SUSU amounts to 235 years.
A meeting of the Chairman of the Student Community of the city of Freiberg (Germany), Thomas Schmaltz, with students of Chelyabinsk universities was held at South Ural State University.
SUSU students have the unique possibility to take part in summer language school in Germany. The school is organized on the grounds of the Freiberg Mining Academy, one of the most well-known higher education institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany.
On April 10 through 25 of 2018, the exhibition of The Most Beautiful Books of Germany 2016&2017 is to be held in Chelyabinsk in reading room No.2 of the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library (60 Lenin prospect). The exhibition displays the winners of a similarly-named contest, the best edition-bound books of Germany by their design. This is the second time that SUSU staff takes part in organizing such exhibition.
