SUSU’s Linguo-innovative Technologies Research and Education Center (LiNT REC) was established in 2012. Since then the employees of the Research and Education Center fulfilled several unique projects, including AutoLex, InterAct and AutoTutor software programs.
On October 11th and 12th, the 4th International Research and Practical Conference on University of the 21st Century in the System of Continuing Education was held at South Ural State University. The SUSU Institute of Supplementary Education acted as the organiser.
On October 6th, research fellow of the SUSU Research and Education Centre for Eurasian Studies Ivan Semyan participated in the largest research-and-education forum in Russia, entitled “Researchers Against Myths - 8”, held in Moscow at NUST MISiS. Ivan, as one of the leaders and inspirers of reconstruction activities among young people in the Chelyabinsk region, demonstrated the reconstruction of Neolithic technique for making hunting bows and arrows, and conducted a full-scale experiment to test the penetrating ability of a flint-tip arrow.
On October 10 and 11, secondary school students of the Sovetsky District of Chelyabinsk got acquainted with South Ural State University in the Palace of Culture named after D.V. Kolyushchenko.
In the hall of the Palace, SUSU schools and institutes presented their sites, where students of 9th -11th grades could learn about the professions and the prospects of studying in these fields.
The Head of the SUSU International Affairs Division Olga Yaroshenko and the Head of Pushkin Institute Research, Education and Coordination Center Yadviga Berezovskaya visited the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Yekaterinburg.
South Ural State University supports young scientists who contribute to development of science. Every year SUSU students and postgraduates take part in UMNIK programme aiming at supporting commercially oriented scientific-engineering projects. This programme allows to check if an innovation by researchers is in demand and to what extent, as well as to obtain a grant of 500 thousand roubles to perfect it.
AeroNet is a sphere of activity of the National Technology Initiative, the goal of which is creation of new aircrafts. In this field, South Ural State University is implementing many unique projects.
South Ural State University carried out a presentation of a new structural department entitled “the SCO and BRICS 2020 Summits Preparations Directorate”, created to prepare and conduct the upcoming international events, which are to be held in Chelyabinsk in 2020.
On September 24-30, the XII All-Russian Contest of Intelligence, Creativity, and Sport “Student Miss and Mister of Russia” took place in the city of Sevastopol. Ivan Melnik, a student of the SUSU Branch in Nizhnevartovsk, won the title of the First Student Vice-Mister of Russia 2018.
The International Tournament of Clinicists – 2018 entitled “Clinical Legal Education” took place at the Faculty of Law at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
On October 11, the 12th Azerbaijan International Educational Exhibition started its work at Baku Expo Center under the slogan “Invest in the Future of Children”. This is the only exhibition in the country, which is organised with the official support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as the Agency for Small and Medium Businesses of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Fund for the Promotion of Export and Investment (AZPROMO), and the National Confederation of Entrepreneur Organisations (Employers) of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK).
In 2018 South Ural State University is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. Many modern achievements are based on vast experience accumulated by the scientists of the university almost since its establishment. Over its years-long history the scientific school of automated control systems has fostered many prominent scientists. One of its outstanding representatives and a successor to the tradition of scientific ideas is SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov, under whose leadership the university is fulfilling the strategy of digital transformations.
A Forum of International Students and Alumni of Russian Universities – 2018, participated by SUSU representatives, took place in the city of Vladimir.
The event was held in the frameworks of the Federal grant by Rosmolodezh (Russian Youth) under support of the Global Alumni Alliance.
The Forum is intended to become one of the venues for meetings of international students with alumni in order to discuss issues of their further interaction with Russia in the sphere of public and professional activity.
From October 1st through 5th in the Activity Hall of South Ural State University, contestants of the annual university talent show completed the selection rounds.
In first day of the selection rounds the young men and women from all years of study and all institutes had a chance to show their skills in the category “Vocals, Amateur Singer-songwriter Songs”. Both popular Russian and foreign, national and singer-songwriter songs were heard from the stage of the Activity Hall.

The Moon Shines Bright in the Clear Sky Absurdist Play
The International Office is holding My SUSU contest. As part of this contest, international students will talk about how they decided to study in Russia, how they enrolled into SUSU, where they are studying now, and what it is like. Graduates will have a great chance to look back in their student years and share their stories of success resulting from obtaining their university education.
The contest is being held in two formats: a video and an essay.
On October 7, the Doors Open Day was held at South Ural State University. Future students and their parents learned about the main competitive advantages of the university and the prospects of studying at SUSU, as well as how to increase the chances for admission to the state-funded form of education.
On September 29, activists of South Ural State University’s Association of International Students organised a trip to the Taganay National Park, where they passed through multiple obstacles and reached the top of the Ural Mountains.
Taganay is a unique national park located in the northern part of subdued mountain ridges of the South Ural, which is an isolated plexus of mountains, three sides of which change into plateau and further into flat wooded steppe.
South Ural State University has a long history and is well known abroad. Its mission is forming a new generation of leaders capable of solving global tasks on sustainable development and changing our world for better. Achieving this goal would not be possible without the University’s integration into the international education environment.

SUSU and University Grenoble Alpes, city of Grenoble (France), launch the joint double degree programme in Economics and Management.
Senior students (the 4th year of the bachelor’s programme study and the 5th year of the specialist’s programme study) of SUSU of practically any field of preparation can participate in the programme.
Duration of the programme is 1 year. Mode of study is intra- and extramural or distance learning.
A multi-author monograph on Development of Information Technologies in Criminal Proceedings has won an award under the category of Philosophy; Sociology; Political Science; Law; Science Studies at the Best Scientific Book in the Field of Humanities 2018 International Contest held at the Interregional Centre of Innovative Technologies in Education.
