The 12th International Chess Festival «Marienbad Open-2013" finished in Marianske Lazne (Czech Republic). In tournament "A" Sergey Matsenko, Chelyabinsk International Master, postgraduate of Adaptive Physical Education and Medicobiological Training Department, Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, successfully achieved the standard of international grandmaster.
In the last quarter of 2012 the manual "Fundamentals of integrated communications” written by Anna B. Cherednyakova, Associate Professor of Marketing Communication Department of Trade and Economics Faculty, Cand. Sc. (Education), was published.
This manual is meant for those students who chose the sphere of advertising and public relations as their future career. Also the manual will be useful for businessmen and practitioners who deal with advertising and PR-technologies during their business activities and are interested in promoting their products.
According to the research results nowadays curd is one of the most favorite food products for most of us. Healthy food can rarely be tasty but curb is an exception.
Interest in curd as a national product has significantly increased in recent years, which led to the product line extension and growth of its production volume. Previously the consumers preferred high fat curd (15 – 26%) though today the priorities changed.
The event will be held with the help of Chelyabinsk Region Government and Chelyabinsk City Administration from February 4 to September 7, 2013. This competition will be held for the fifth time and everybody from Chelyabinsk or Chelyabinsk region can take part in it.
For the competition the songs of the following topics are accepted: "My Lovely City" and "Southern Urals. Here Dreams Come True".
Within the period from December 2012 to February 2013 the International On-line Competition in Finance and Investments "Finance Olympus 2012" was held. The organizers of that competition were PFL University, Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, Rosbank and VTB bank.
5 - 9 Februaryin Rostov-on-Don the closing stage of the national competition for the best organization of student self-government will take place. The activity of South Ural State University Trade Union Organization is highly estimated not only in our region but also far beyond its borders. It was proved by the results of competition stage.
Alexander Leonidovich Shestakov, Rector of South Ural State University, Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Chelyabinsk region, Chairman of the Council of University Rectors of Ural Federal District, and Andrey Vladimirovich Shmidt, Head of Extra-Curricular Activities Department, Chairman of SUSU Trade Committee, Deputy of Chelyabinsk City Duma, were awarded with “Medals of Merits for Veteran Organization Military Brotherhood”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Decree №1305 on “Celebration of 70th Anniversary of defeating German fascist troops by Soviet Army in Battle of Stalingrad”. Within the framework of commemoration a number of All-Russian interuniversity events are planned. The organizers are Russian University Chancellors’ Union and Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.
The school press Festival “Media-Lesson”, organized with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of Chelyabinsk region, is coming to its end. The results of the Festival will be summed up at the end of January in coordination with Faculty of Journalism of South Ural State University.
The organizers of the festival: Regional Centre of Supplementary Education for Children, Chelyabinsk regional branch of All-Russian children organization “Young Journalists League” and SUSU Faculty of Journalism.
The students of Law and Finance Faculty, Economics and Projects Management Department, Ekaterina Gagarinova (LF-152/M), Alexander Surodin (LF-567/D), Kristina Miloslavskaya (LF-569/D) (project supervisor M.G. Litke) reached the final stage of All-Russian Students’ Business Projects Competition “Sochi Heritage 2014” announced by PwC in Russia in cooperation with “Sochi-2014” organizing committee.
Belorussian State University held the II International Students’ Competition in management and economics “Business Project” on 4 - 6 December in Minsk.
17 teams from 6 countries received the invitations to the Belorussian capital. Among them there were two teams from South Ural State University: “Expetra” with their business project “Gold in Bottles” and “W.team” with “Transfer technologies of wireless charging devices W.IRA”.
The teams had to pass successfully two stages to represent their university in the finals and compete for the grand prize.
Within the framework of academic mobility program ten students of Trade and Economic Faculty are getting ready for the trip to China to study over there for one semester. On March 11 they will leave Russia to start their training course in People's Republic of China.
On February 5-9 the All-Russian contest of students’ self-government took place in Rostov-on-Don. The event was divided into three major parts.
The first part was the last stage of the contest of the best activity organization of students’ self-government institutions. More than 300 requests were sent from all parts of Russia to participate in the contest but there were only a few which were admitted.
February 8 at Foreign Languages Department of Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin III All-Russian Conference of young scientists “Current Issues of Philology of XXI Сentury” was held.
The conference was organized in two directions: contemporary linguistic studies and urgent problems of Russian and foreign literature.
The graduates of SUSU Geological Faculty are always highly demanded specialists and interns.
The graduates of Geological Faculty of Miass SUSU branch Anna Pivikova and Stas Fedorov went to explore the Chukchi Peninsula. To be more specific – they are participating in searching for gold in the Valunistoe gold and silver field. They spent half a year over there and then came back to Miass. Though after their winter holidays they will continue their work.
February 15 at 19:00 in the hostel No.5 the casting for the competition "Miss University Campus 2013" will take place.
At the first stage the girls will represent themselves and answer the questions prepared by the competition organizers. Those students who pass the first stage will demonstrate to the jury their plasticity and dancing skills.
Each hostel will be represented by only one girl. The final stage of the competition will be held in SUSU Performance Hall on March 28 at 16:00!
On the threshold of Science Day Trade and Economic Faculty summed up the scientific results of year 2012. The indicator of scientific activity of the Faculty is the number of professors who got their degrees. For year 2012 at the Faculty there were 11 dissertations defended including two doctor ones.
On February 4 and 5 the meetings and events devoted to the joint Master's program of South Ural State University and Clark University took place. The presentations were held with the help of Pavel Makarov, Master who has recently completed this academic program of MSIT specialty.
