48 Hours to Develop Videogames – Global Game Jam Comes to SUSU Again

 

January 20th -22nd at the SUSU Higher School of Electronics and Computer Sciences Global Game Jam, the largest internation competition for the development of computer games is being held at SUSU. Participants of GGJ are given 48 hours to put together a team and develop a game from scratch according to a given theme at the same time as more than 20,000 programmers, artists, game designers and game lovers from tens of countries.

South Ural State University took part in VUZPROMEXPO 2016, an annual national multi-industry exhibition and forum. South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk) celebrated its 73rd birthday and wrapped up a fruitful research and academic year, reports the university’s press-service.

A series of holiday events dedicated to celebrating the university finished with a large, traditional concert which gathered SUSU staff, professors, and students. There were no open spots in the activity hall.

SUSU Enters the List of 15 Most In-Demand Universities in Russia

On December 15th, South Ural State University took 13th place out of 89 in the category "classic university" in the Russian National University Ratings, which shows their demand from the Russian economy. The short list of universities was presented by the Social Navigator project of the international informational agency Russia Today.

“The Future is Up to You” – Young Researchers Awarded at SUSU

 

An awards ceremony was held yesterday in the SUSU Pushkin Hall to wrap up contests for the financial support of research projects among the university’s students, postgraduates, and young pedagogical staff.

Awards were given to winners by the vice rector of information systems, Leonid Sokolinsky. In his opening words, he thanked all participants and noted that these research projects in particular should bring our university up to a high international level.

An awards ceremony will be held on December 15th at 11:30 in the SUSU Pushkin Hall to wrap up contests for the financial support of research projects among the university’s students, postgraduates, and young pedagogical staff.

On South Ural State University’s birthday, 50-thousand ruble grants will be awarded to student projects which entered the finals and won the Intellectual Breakthrough contest. 200-thousand ruble grants will be awarded to SUSU postgraduates who won the Scientific Prospects intellectual competition.

SUSU Celebrating its Birthday in the Style of the Epochs of Ilf and Petrov

 

A theatrical holiday dedicated to the birthday of SUSU called The Union of Science and Achievement will be held on December 15th at 3:00 in SUSU’s conference hall.

Guests and participants will enjoy a theatricalized presentation based on the famous and well-loved literary creations of the soviet epoch, Ilf and Petrov. Also within the program the audience will also be able to see the new film, “SUSU Calendar of Events. 2016” and performances of the best artistic collectives, winners of prestigious international and Russian festivals this year.

SUSU Assistant Professor Named RAACS Advisor

 

Assistant professor of the department of theology, culture, and art, candidate of art history, Evgenia Konysheva was awarded an RAACS Advisor diploma.

The Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Science (RAACS) is one of four governmental academies of science in the Russian Federation, the top scientific organization in the country for architecture, urban planning, and construction science. The Advisor status is awarded in recognition of achievements in architectural practice, education, or science.

The SUSU department of foreign languages is organizing a seminar on December 19th, Introduction to English as a Medium of Instruction. The creator and moderator of the seminar is Tony Bryan, expert in the area of developing courses for teaching academic disciplines in English.

English as a medium of instruction (EMI) is a growing global trend dominating higher education. In many European countries, more than 70% of courses for graduate and postgraduate students are taught with English as the medium of instruction.

On December 12th and 13th, specialists from the company QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) will visit SUSU. The company carries out expert analyses and annually publishes the leading ratings for the best universities in the world. SUSU’s Supervisory Council Holding its First Meeting

 

South Ural State University became a participant of the 5-100 Project for Increasing the Competitiveness of Leading Russian Universities in 2015. From that moment, some broad changes began at SUSU, one of which was the creation of a University Supervisory Council. The council includes representatives of government agencies and non-governmental organizations, and leading experts and authorities in various fields.

Science in Three Dimensions: French Researcher Presented at SUSU

Phillipe Bertrand, deputy director of science and innovations at the National Engineering School of Saint Etienne, read a lecture to SUSU students about laser technologies in the production of 3D-functional items.
