Intermediate Results of the MARUEEB Erasmus+ Project are Drawn Up

On September 18, 2017 at the Resource Center of the International Campus of Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University, a conference within the international project Erasmus+ took place. Events of the MARUEEB project were held at the Polytechnic University from 18th till 21th of September and included organization meetings, sessions, lectures and introductory excursions to laboratories.

As a reminder, the project was launched in 2015 with the goal to develop the master’s degree program “Innovative technology in energy-efficient buildings” in three Russian and two Armenian universities. The created program should comply with the requirements of employers, and its graduates – with the requirements of the labor market. The program is mainly focused on economizing energy resources and protecting the environment. At South Ural State University the project is realized under supervision of the Director of the Institute of Architecture and Construction, Candidate of Engineering Sciences Dmitriy Ulrikh.

The participant universities delivered reports about their achievements. Seven universities reported about the accomplished work: Ural Federal University, South Ural State University, Tambov State Technical University, Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Volgograd State Technical University, State Engineering University of Armenia, American University of Armenia and Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University.

“International communication is one of the most important aspects, which is completely developed in our project. Organizing work of such number of people from all over the world is a difficult task but we made it and the project is really a success. We managed to create a specific atmosphere in which all participants of the project were able to demonstrate their skills and obtain valuable experience and knowledge,” says one of academic coordinators of the MARUEEB project, Professor Vincenzo Bianco.

Postgraduate students of the Institute of Architecture and Construction Konstantin Semenov and Kirill Matis by the results of defending their personal projects within the Erasmus+ program were awarded certificates of Doctor of Sciences in the field of energy-efficient construction.

“Despite the fact, that the content of educational courses within the program basically repeats the already known disciplines, it was quite interesting to look at many old things in a new light and compare teaching methods in our country and abroad. Personally, I consider the major achievement of the project to be establishment of connections between the universities. The process of writing a collaborative research paper with lecturers from Genoa and Saint Petersburg is a priceless experience, which I would hardly get in other way. The group of participants of the project belongs to different spheres of research interests, therefore interdisciplinarity became an inseparable part of not only our article, but the project in general,” said postgraduate student of the Institute of Architecture and Construction Konstantin Semenov.
