Last Friday, a ceremony of awarding diplomas with honours to students was held at the Miass branch of South Ural State University.
Under the current conditions of restrictive measures in effect in our region, the tradition of awarding diplomas with honours at the SUSU Miass branch has nevertheless been preserved. Moreover, the university administration tried to make the graduation ceremony safe for everyone. For this, a Bogomol robot was invited, which helped maintain the social distance.
It is impossible to imagine our life without the materials that people produce and process for their living activities. It is interesting that early civilizations were even identified by the names of materials that people learned to use: the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age. Over time people have learned to produce materials superior in properties to natural products. Now there are tens of thousands of different materials with very specific properties.
At present, the world is changing at an incredible speed. And the preferences on the labour market are changing as well: specialists who are outside-of-the-box thinking, creative, capable of analytical activity, in command of not only theoretical knowledge of social processes, but also skills in managing, forecasting, designing, modelling and developing a set of measures, and practical recommendations to solve specific social problems, are in demand. Graduates of the SUSU Department of Sociology possess all of these qualities.
Graduate of the School of Medical Biology Svetlana Grinvald upon completion of her studies at SUSU was awarded a diploma with honours and became a specialist in biotechnology.
– How did you choose what field to study at South Ural State University?
There are many unique spaces at South Ural State University where engineering students are gaining quality experience by working on modern equipment. One such space is the Laboratory of Experimental Mechanics of the Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, headed by Pavel Taranenko. - For how many years have you been connected with the university?

– Why did you choose the Department of Food and Biotechnology?
South Ural State University actively cooperates with many universities around the world by participating in student academic mobility programs. 2500 students from 56 countries are studying at SUSU, gaining knowledge in various fields and specialties. The student exchange program between SUSU and Chinese universities has been existing for a quite a long time now. Each year, around 200 to 300 Chinese students come to our university, and this number grows year after year.
A postgraduate of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science of South Ural State University is working on a project that has a great future. He is creating an ultrasonic jammer of sound recording devices. The development has already been recognized at the national level: the project was named among the best ones in the UMNIK competition of scientific and innovative projects.
Abubakar Yaro from Côte d’Ivoire and Fidele Benimana from Rwanda came to Chelyabinsk two years ago to apply for South Ural State University. The students note that they have never experienced such hot weather in Russia before.
