March 31st, the leading scientists from the Department of Theology, Culture, and Arts of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities took part in an Online Science-to-Practice Conference on the "Industrial Society and Modern Artistic Culture: from an Idea to Project Implementation", within the federal innovation platform.
Scientists from South Ural State University have made a step forward in studying organic compounds of antimony. The have examined the reaction of pentaphenyl antimony with several acids. The product obtained as a result of the experiment can potentially become a photocatalyst for water treatment, and can also be used in medicine. The research results have been published in Russian Journal of General Chemistry (Q3, indexed in Scopus).
More than two thousand international students from 56 countries, most of them from Egypt, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Iraq, are studying at South Ural State University.
In anticipation of the World Theatre Day, a table reading of a Science-Drama format play based on the novel by the Strugatsky brothers was held at the Atomic Energy Information Centre of Chelyabinsk on March 26th.
The Science Drama project by the Atomic Energy Information Centre network is a play reading with the participation of not only professional actors, but of scientists as well. For the first time the project was announced in Chelyabinsk within the "KSTATI. Sistema koordinat" ("BY THE WAY. System of Coordinates") Science Festival in 2017.
On April 7th, the Tretyakovka creative project is planning to open an art coworking space, in which young people aged 18 to 35 will be able to engage in 6 creative fields for free. Master classes will start in mid-April.
In March, within the frameworks of the A Hundred Roads, and One Is Yours big-scale project, the Applicant Consultation Centre held a presentation about South Ural State University in educational institutions of Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Kopeysk, Korkino, Troitsk, Yuzhnouralsk, and of Agapovskiy, Nagaybakskiy and Argayashskiy Districts. Also, at schools of Chelyabinsk, teacher-parent meetings were held.
March 22nd through March 26th, the second (visiting) round for the PMCup, the 12th Project Management Open Championship, Cup of the Chelyabinsk Region’s Governor was held at Sanatorium "Karagayskiy Bor".
The research achievements by SUSU Professor Denis Vinnik have been recognized by the Elsevier company, which awarded him with the Research Excellence Award Russia. It coincided with the Year of Science and Technology. The list of laureates included Russian scientists, whose authority was recognized by the world community.

Applications for participation in the "My Country — My Russia" contest has opened in Russia. This is one of the projects within the “Russia Is a Land of Opportunity” presidential platform. The event will be held for the 18th time and will be dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, as well as to the 60th Anniversary of the First Human Flight into Space.
Graduates of South Ural State University master the most modern specialties and become true professionals in their fields. They work in various spheres ranging from rocket engineering and metallurgy to information technology and architecture. Today we have talked with a young scientist, Candidate of Sciences (Engineering) Ildar Rakhmatulin, a graduate of the SUSU Faculty of Power Engineering. After receiving his Candidate degree in engineering, he went to work in Tokyo. Now he takes part in non-standard scientific projects.
The SUSU research and laboratory facilities have been presented to the journalists of the Ural Federal District, who are interested in the activities of the UIREC. SUSU is working on several projects at once within the frameworks of the research and education centre, the key one of which is the development of an engine for a reusable launch vehicle. To show the successful results of SUSU, the start of an engine developed by the university scientists jointly with specialists from NIIMash (Nizhnyaya Salda) has been demonstrated.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation holds a contest to determine who will receive funding from the federal budget for the development of the cooperation of Russian educational organisations of higher education, state scientific institutions, and real-economy organisations for the purposes of fulfilling complex projects on creating high-technology productions (thirteenth stage) within the frameworks of the Government Resolution No. 218 as of 09.04.2018.
On March 25th, at the School of Economics and Management of South Ural State University, a Laboratory of Marketing Solutions within the 18th Green Apple International Youth Festival of Marketing was held.
Over the years of its functioning, the festival has turned from a small contest of creative works into a multi-aspect project.
The goal of the new Master’s degree programme in Data Journalism (“Дata-журналистика”) is to train media specialists to do big data mining with regard to the information important for the government, businesses and society, as well as to analyse and process big arrays of digital data for the creation of media products, and know how to turn complex source materials into an easily-understandable and beautiful verbal or visual media story (interactive maps, charts, digital storytelling, etc.).

The software that will help physicists and chemists use the widely used program for quantum chemical calculations has been developed by a SUSU scientist. The results of research are published in a high rated journal “Computer Physics Communications” (Q1, Top-10).
