“This is a holiday with gray hair on its temples, it is joy with tears in your eyes...”. Students of the Military Training Centre of South Ural State University are among the first to celebrate Victory in the Chelyabinsk region. Traditionally, a parade is held on the square in front of SUSU on May 7th.
The further the years of the Great Patriotic War are from us, the more valuable these or those little-known facts become for us. In those years, the whole country knew about Tankograd - a city somewhere in the Urals, where workers forged the “weapon of Victory”, the famous T-34 tanks, day and night. And since then, they have traditionally believed that our city and region during the war years (and after it) is primarily the production of weapons and steel.
At the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, a viewing of a special reportage of “Vasiliy Zaitsev. Nowhere to Retreat” by the correspondent of Izvestia, 5TV Russian TV Channel and REN TV, graduate of the SUSU Faculty of Journalism Vladislav Chukhrov was organized.
On April 21-22, 2021 the university traditionally hosted Days of Historical Science. Director of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities , Doctor of Sciences (Philology) Lidiya Lobodenko, Vice-Director of the Institute, Doctor of Sciences (Hisotry) Andrey Epimakhov, head of the Department of Russian and International History, Doctor of Sciences (History) Olga Nikonova spoke at the opening ceremony.
Scientists at SUSU have learned to determine the levels of verbal and non-verbal intelligence by the results of an electroencephalogram (EEG). SUSU scientists have noted a correlation between the level of intelligence and the organization of connections in the brain, which can be traced by recording EEG at rest.
South Ural State University is one of the biggest Russian multidisciplinary universities with fundamental scientific basis and high standards of specialist training situated in the South Ural. The university is multinational and nowadays is a home for more than 2,500 international students from 58 countries who pay great attention to their studies.
The main projects of the Ural Research and Education Centre (UIREC) have been presented at a meeting chaired by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District Vladimir Yakushev, governors of the Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan regions, as well as the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District took part in the meeting, where the tasks of the research and education centres were discussed.
An Open House Day was held at South Ural State University for the first time this year. The meeting of university representatives with graduates of secondary and vocational schools attracted about 1000 applicants.
The event began with an official part in the Assembly Hall. High school seniors and their parents met with the SUSU administration. The guests were told about the competitive advantages of the university, what the specific features of the Admissions Campaign 2021 are.

Artur Dydrov, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, South Ural State University, successfully defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Sciences (Philosophy). The procedure took place at the Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture.
The topic of the thesis was the “Man of the Future in the Context of Innovative Strategies”. Doctor of Sciences (Philosophy), Professor Vera Neveleva acted as a scientific supervisor.
Through the pictures taken by them as well as in their narrations 17 photographers are reflecting on the relationships between a person and the city, and on the boundaries of the space we call "our own". An "It's Mine" ("Моё") exhibition opens at South Ural State University. This creativity event has been organized jointly with the Klopovnik bunker art space.
Meet-and-greet meeting of volunteer centres of universities and specialized secondary educational institutions with profile socially-oriented organisations of the city will take place at the SUSU University Boiling Point on April 20th. Each volunteer centre will select those with whom they would be interested to work. And then the stage of joint development and implementation of projects will begin, in which more than 350 volunteers of our city will take part.
The Health Week has been announced at South Ural State University. The first day of the week was celebrated today at the SUSU Main University Building. In the hall on the third floor, several thematic venues were organized.

On April 12th the Cosmonautics Day was celebrated in our country. This is a special holiday for South Ural State University since for more than 60 years now the university's Faculty of Aerospace Engineering has been training engineers for the developing sector of mechanical engineering– rocket and missile engineering. The major achievement of the Faculty are its more than 7000 graduates, many of whom are heading big and small enterprises, design bureaus, and research-and-development organisations, and are working as top managers or lead engineers.
As part of the Day of Military Glory of Russia in honour of the victory of Russian warriors of Prince Alexander Nevsky over the German knights on Lake Peipus, the SUSU Military Training Centre held a series of meetings with the Associate Professor of the Department of Russian and International History of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, Candidate of Sciences (History) Alexander Timofeev.
On April 7th and 8th, the city stage of the “Student Spring of the City of Chelyabinsk-2021”, a festival for students of higher educational institutions, took place in the WTC Congress Hall in Chelyabinsk. Freedom, drive, zeal for victory, and most importantly, vivid emotions and unforgettable creative performances were all part of the event. The participants gave the audience their energy, and they, in turn, answered with enthusiastic ovations. The teams from South Ural State University showed the best results among the higher educational institutions of the city of Chelyabinsk.
Employers Assembly continues its work at South Ural State University. Representatives of the major regional and Russian companies share with students what opportunities their enterprises have to offer them, and the university students can ask their potential employers questions.
Within the frameworks of the Employers Assembly, meetings with employers were organized for students of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service of South Ural State University.
The Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities (IMSSH) has summed up the results of the 6th Media Planet contest and festival of school and student mass media. The event was held within the frameworks of the Communication Leader of the 21st Century International Scientific and Educational Forum.
The scientists of South Ural State University are improving the energy efficiency of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works power plants by introducing smart technology. These systems work using the Internet of Things: information from hundreds of smart sensors enters the system and is processed online, which will prevent energy waste and equipment breakdown. The project is part of the Ural Interregional Scientific and Educational Center work.
South Ural State University has one of the best structures for scientific activity in the country. There are about 40 laboratories at the university - the basis for the development of scientific directions for schools and institutes. Over the past few years, twelve international laboratories have been established under the supervision of leading foreign professors. The university is at the forefront of science, and SUSU scientists are published in prestigious journals.
