Today Is a Holiday for Winter Sports Athletes and Amateurs

At the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service practically all winter sports are represented, and athletes are especially successful in winter orienteering, ice hockey and cross-country skiing competitions.

The Day of Winter Sports in Russia is traditionally celebrated on February 7th. It was first celebrated at the initiative of the Russian Olympic Committee in 2015. On this day, festivals, outdoor competitions, and open house days in sports institutions are held.

Applications for Studying or Internship in Slovenia for the 2021-2022 Academic Year Open

Students and postgraduates of South Ural State University are welcome to send in their applications for studying or taking internship in Slovenia for the 2021-2022 academic year.

In order to enrol, you need to choose a university in Slovenia, write to this university, receive an invitation letter, prepare and send a package of documents for the Russian and Slovenian sides, after which the candidates will be selected on the basis of a competition.

Language of instruction: English (Slovenian is not necessary).

SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service Announces Cooking Festival

In February of 2021, the Department of Production Technology and Catering Organization of the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service will hold 5 cooking master classes in the format of a modern handicraft class for 11th forms of secondary general education schools of the city of Chelyabinsk.

At these master classes school pupils jointly with the Institute teaching staff will take a look at the technology of cooking various dishes, will cook and taste them together.

The first master class is planned to be held on February 3, 2021.

Tournament for the Cup of the Trade Union in Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding Wrapped up in the Chelyabinsk Region

At the Sunny Valley ski resort, Miass, a tournament for the Cup of the Regional Trade Union Organisation in downhill skiing and snowboarding on the occasion of the Russian Student Day took place on January 26th for the first time. The event was organized by the Regional Organisation the Trade Union of Education Workers of the Chelyabinsk Region, the Student Coordination Council of the Trade Union, the Katalitsa project, and ANO ProMolodezh.

New Formula Will Make It Possible to Check the Effectiveness of Parallel Algorithms without a Supercomputer

Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), Professor Leonid Sokolinsky has deduced a formula, which will help mathematicians and programmers evaluate the effectiveness of parallel algorithms. For four years the scientist has been working on deducing this formula at the SUSU Supercomputer Simulation Laboratory.

The Device Imitating Sun Microwave Radiation Will Help to Cure Diseases

SUSU scientists propose to use new technologies for infectious diseases treatment. They have patented a device that increases the body resistance to viruses and bacteria. The main goal is to restore body functions weakened due to the electromagnetic pollution of the planet.

The scientists from South Ural State University patented a device accelerating the cure of the viral disease. The device simulates microwave radiation from the sun, which is evolutionarily significant for living beings.

SUSU Will Continue to Combine Two Formats of Training

Starting from February 8, 2021, the mixed format of the educational process will be implemented at South Ural State University: in-person training in classrooms will prevail but will be complemented by the use of distance learning technologies.

And not many people really know how their personal information is collected, shared, and used (or misused) on the internet? While there’s a growing awareness that we need to keep our data private still some people underestimate how valuable their personal data is.

Scientists Improve Traffic Management by Calculating Vehicle Speed

The SUSU team of scientists continues to work on road transport monitoring within the Smart Transport project. Experts improve the program they created using neural networks. In the latest study, they paid attention to measuring the speed of vehicles. The accuracy of the method proposed by scientists exceeded 90%. They published the research in the highly-rated Journal of Big Data (Q1).

Closing of the Technological Contest to Be Held at the Boiling Point on the Occasion of the Day of Science

The closing ceremony of the Technological Contest will be held on February 8th at SUSU. The results of project teams in 2020 will be presented. The closing ceremony will include presentations of the best student projects fulfilled in cooperation with various SUSU institutes, the university Boiling Point, and Fab Lab.

Open House Day at SUSU to Be Held Online

On January 31, at 12:00, SUSU will host the second online Open House Day this academic year.

High schoolchildren and their parents will be informed about:

  • rules of admission in 2021;
  • main fields of training programmes;
  • possibilities of individual education;
  • system of additional professional education.

After the general Open House Day, a marathon of online meetings with the directors of the SUSU schools and institutes will begin.

Russian Scientists Create Nitrogen-doped Glassy Carbon

Scientists from South Ural State University, together with colleagues from Moscow State University, studied the effect of nitrogen content on the structure and conductivity of glassy carbon. The study aimed to create new carbon materials with high chemical resistance and electrical conductivity. The study was published in the highly-rated scientific journal Diamond and Related Materials (Q2).

SUSU Postgraduate from Tajikistan Achieved Friction Reduction in Reciprocating Engine Units

A method to improve the efficiency of reciprocating engines was proposed by a SUSU postgraduate. The results of the many-years’ research were presented in his dissertation for the Candidate of Science degree, which he successfully defended in the end of 2020. The developments will help engine corporations to improve their products.
