The SUSU Department of Service and Technology of Material Artistic Processing and the Design-sobytiya (Design events) will be offering an exhibition of modern French posters entitled FABRIQUÉ EN FRANCE. This curatorial project by Mitya Harshak is being held with the support of the French Institute.
On November 13th Ural Days of Philosophy started at South Ural State University; this year the event’s theme sounds like “Practicing Philosophy as a Way of Taking Care about the World and Yourself”.
On November 10, a delegation from Nazarbayev University, Republic of Kazakhstan, visited South Ural State University. The goal of the visit was discussing prospects of international collaboration.
Mister SUSU Campus is a contest which has now become a tradition. Each year, the most charming, charismatic, and talented young men compete for this title.
They will have to pass many tests, and only the best among them will succeed. The contest itself is held in several stages over 5-6 weeks, during which these young men from our campus will learn to be “misters” and will prepare for the contest’s final to be held November 16th in the SUSU Activity Hall.
Today, high-technology solutions allowing to upgrade production processes are in especially high demand. South Ural State University has something to offer for the existing demand. A valveless pump designed by the SUSU scientists is known for its high reliability, as well as for a smaller degree of damage that it might inflict on transmitted materials due to the absence of moving elements in its flow part. This innovation may find application in food, medical and nuclear industries.
Every year, World Quality Day is celebrated in November. The goal of this holiday is increasing the significance of high quality goods and services as well as stepping up work related to attracting attention to issues of quality. After all, this includes not just the safety of humans and the environment, but also the level of satisfying consumer demands and expectations.
Universal Journalism textbook, developed by a team of lecturers from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the SUSU ISSH’s Faculty of Journalism and edited by Doctor of Philology, the Dean Lyudmila Shestarkina, became the winner at the 4th all-Russian Innovative Public Contest in the category of “The best textbook (manual) for universities and postgraduate education”.
Starting from 2002, World Philosophy Day is celebrated every third Thursday of November, as proclaimed by UNESCO. By now, over 70 countries have joined the tradition of celebrating this day, and Russia is among them as well.
On November 15, students of South Ural State University who came for obtaining higher education from another countries are going to start passing the qualifying standards of the all-Russian physical education and sports complex training program called “Ready for Labor and Defense” (GTO).
South Ural State University actively supports and extends international connections. Annually, more than two thousand of international students from Iraq, Iran, China, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Venezuela and other world’s countries study at the university.
On November 8, the Forum of Rectors of Russian and Kazakhstan Universities was held at South Ural State University within the frameworks of the 14th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum. Rectors of the leading universities gathered to discuss problems and prospects of modern education and sign agreements on cooperation. During the event, guests of the Forum were given the opportunity to get a closer look at South Ural State University by visiting various excursions, and assess scientific and engineering achievements of the university’s scientists.
On November 7th an art exhibition was held in the Arts Hall of South Ural State University to celebrate the 95thanniversary of the birth of architect Maria Mochalova.
The exhibition was organized by the Director of the SUSU Art Museum Galina Trifonova, who shared memories of the artist.

The 14th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum is to be held in Chelyabinsk on November 8 through 9. Its main topic is Human Capital Development. According to organizers, the strategically important investments in human capital are embedded, among all, at the stage of education. The first day of the Forum will be dedicated to this precise topic.
The Legal Clinic at South Ural State University is part of the Institute of Law and offers free legal help to the city’s population, most importantly to disadvantaged groups, and allows students to understand all the subtleties of legal processes in practice. Alexandra Kosmynina, Head of the Legal Clinic, and Anna Vidergold, Senior Inspector of the Clinic, told us about the Clinic’s fields of activity and new introductions to their work.
A series of educational workshops on “International Scientific and Educational Collaboration: Grants, Financing and Projects” has completed at SUSU.
In the course of the workshops the University’s professors and employees were provided with information on the possibilities and open applications to international financing organizations.
Vyacheslav Shestopalov graduated from the CPI’s Faculty of Metallurgy on the specialty “Corrosion and protection of metals” in 1985. During this time, he passed the uneasy road from postgraduate student to Director General of the company he had been dreaming to establish for many years. Director General of the RB-Composite Scientific and Production Company, advisor of the Carbon and Composite Materials Plant Limited Company of the Rosatom Corporation, Vyacheslav Shestopalov recalls how the CPI turned him into a top-class specialist.
Starting from 2013 an all-Russian program on developing infrastructure for electric vehicles for their wide-scale implementation is being realized. The scientists of South Ural State University are working on creating innovative solutions which will facilitate the fulfillment of this program. One of such solutions is a propulsion unit for electric vehicles based on separately excited field reluctance machine.
On November 4, the Association of International Students supported by the International Affairs Division is going to hold the already-traditional Mini-Football Championship among international students; winners will get the Champions’ Cup. This year, students from Arabic countries, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kirgizia will take part in the event.
October 02 through October 13, 2017 the Fifth International School on Software Engineering was held under Erasmus+ PWs@PhD Project in the University of Rostock (Germany). More than 30 postgraduates and employees of 10 universities from 6 countries took part in this school. Sixrepresentatives of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of South Ural State University were among the school attendees.
Presentation of just-issued edition – the second volume of the SUSU Art Museum’s Collection Catalog which included masterpieces of South Ural’s artists from the 20th and the beginning of the 21th centuries given as a gift to the university’s museum in 2013-2017 is to be held at South Ural State University.
