Art Exhibition Opens at SUSU

On November 7th an art exhibition was held in the Arts Hall of South Ural State University to celebrate the 95thanniversary of the birth of architect Maria Mochalova.

The exhibition was organized by the Director of the SUSU Art Museum Galina Trifonova, who shared memories of the artist.

“Having been trained by such great masters as Konstantinovskiy and Krinskiy, Maria Petrovna could transmit through her works an extraordinary aura of clarity and effortlessness uncommon for every-day reality. She was an outstanding representative of the Russian School of Architects, and just a kind-hearted person. It is a pity that our Arts Hall can house only a small part of the heritage by Maria Mochalova, but we tried to do our best to show the whole range of talent of this artist.”

The exhibition comprises not only architectural designs of buildings, but also paintings, graphic art, architectural wash drawings and pedagogic guidebooks.

Within the framework of this exhibition the Second Volume of the SUSU Art Museum’s Collection Catalog describing over 600 collection items was presented.

“First of all these books are for the specialists: professors, researchers, and art experts. They are of limited edition for now. 25 copies have been distributed among the major libraries of our country. In Chelyabinsk, you may find them in the Regional Public Library and directly in the SUSU’s Scientific Library, that is why anyone willing can get an up-close look at the collection of our Art Museum,” says Galina Trifonova.
