Scientists of South Ural State University have studied the specific features of using toponyms Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg in British mass media in the 19th century and determined the factors influencing their use. The results of the research have been published in the highly ranked journal of Problems of Onomastics, included in the first quartile of the Scopus database.
The gala concert of the Vmeste (“Together”) International Festival of Creativity was held at South Ural State University on May 21st. Last year, the festival was held online due to the coronavirus restrictions; this year the students performed in the SUSU auditorium.

Environmental problems in the Chelyabinsk Region have long been among the most pressing ones. A Master's degree student from South Ural State University is working on a method that will significantly reduce environmental pollution from metallurgical waste. The project was supported by a grant from the UMNIK contest.
