A meet-the-artist event with renowned Russian director, actor, and public figure Nikita Mikhalkov was held at South Ural State University. The event gathered a full house of students, teachers, and Chelyabinsk residents who came to meet the master of cinema in person. The Chelyabinsk Region Governor Alexey Texler and State Duma deputies Yana Lantratova and Aleksandr Babakov also were among the guests of honour.

A new issue of the NTU 2025 international ranking has been published. It is drawn up by the National Taiwan University and evaluates research studies: number of articles being published by universities, how often those are cited by scientists, and which journals publish those papers.
The final ranking has included 11 Russian universities:
Lomonosov Moscow State University in the 374th place;
The “Digital Innopolis Days” International Forum on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Innovations in Education and Personnel Training opened at Innopolis University on October 2nd.
On October 2nd and 3rd, 2025, a cross-university peer review is being held at South Ural State University as part of the Priority 2030 program.

Two athletes from the Chelyabinsk Region participated in the tournament: SUSU alumnus and two-time Chessboxing World Champion Amina Akhmadulina and Sergey Faizulloev.

Scientists from South Ural State University have become the first in Russia to create a fundamentally new composite material capable, under the influence of ordinary sunlight, to convert inexpensive organic compounds into commercially valuable products. The results have been published in the Catalysis Letters journal .
The technology will make the production of pharmaceutical components and polymers safer, single-step, and less dependent on imports.

This is a basic platform for discussing innovative developments in Earth remote sensing, geodesy, cartography, and related sciences. An Industrial Robotics Development Centre successfully operates at SUSU. Its activities are focused on the integration of industrial robots and robotic systems, development of new technological solutions, and training of specialists for developers and integrators of robotic systems.

September 24th through 29th, the Chessboxing World Championship will be held in Serbia. Alumnus of South Ural State University Amina Akhmadulina will be representing the Chelyabinsk Region in this tournament.
A cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Physical Education and Sports for the Chelyabinsk Region and the Student Ice Hockey League was signed as part of the Youth Ice Hockey Cup. The document outlines plans for developing student ice hockey in our region, supporting young athletes, and organizing new tournaments.

Doctor of Sciences (Jurisprudence) and famous Russian lawyer, statesman and public figure, TV presenter and writer Pavel Astakhov has arrived on a working visit to South Ural State University.
Over the period from 2009 through 2016, Pavel Astakhov was holding the position of the Children's Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation. He is also well known as a long-time host of the Chas Suda (Hour of Judgment) TV show.

Supplementary professional advanced-training programme has been developed at the Industrial Robotics Development Centre of South Ural State University. During a one-week course, students will gain skills of safe commissioning, programming, and diagnostics of industrial robots, including offline programming, basic maintenance, and their integration with peripherals. Classes for the first 40 students will begin already on September 29th.
Intermetallic compounds feature a number of useful properties (e.g., high hardness, corrosion resistance, etc.), but their widespread industrial application is hampered by one key drawback: high brittleness. A team of SUSU scientists has proposed an original solution to this problem.
To identify and support university teachers working in higher education programs and demonstrating outstanding achievements in teaching and academic work, SUSU has held an internal competitive selection of applicants to the "Alfa-Future Grants for University Teachers" program.
