Every year many students from around the world come to South Ural State University. Iraq, Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Sri Lanka, to mention just a few countries from the list.

This year, we expect more than 700 students from 52 countries; those are the enrolees who applied for studies in various levels of education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, postgraduate, Specialist programmes, and programmes of the Faculty of Pre-University Education. Many students come as part of the international exchange programmes.

Russian scientists introduce a virtual model for liquid crystals

South Ural State University scientists managed to create a virtual model of a multicomponent liquid crystal mixture for the first time. It shows the relationship of the physical properties of liquid crystals with their structure at the microscopic level. The obtained results will allow to create liquid crystals with the required properties in the future, which is of significant importance for their use in medicine and technology. The study was published in the highly rated Journal of Molecular Liquids (Scopus, Q1).

“Art Needs Walls”: Big-scale Youth Festival Held at SUSU

On August 31st, an “Art Needs Walls” modern culture festival was held at South Ural State University as part of the festivities dedicated to the Knowledge Day.

This festival represents a new-for-Chelyabinsk format, which aims at supporting the creative initiatives of students. The idea of holding this event was supported by the Department for Youth Affairs of the City of Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk Region Ministry of Education, and was executed thanks to the SUSU Trade Union Committee.

B.N. Khristenko Laboratory Complex and a Renovated Indoor Athletic Stadium Open at SUSU

On August 31st, right before the Knowledge Day, South Ural State University presented its upgraded infrastructure. This day, the laboratories of B.N. Khristenko Complex of Active Teaching Methods were opened. President of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, Chairman of the SUSU Supervisory Council Viktor Khristenko took part in the festive events. An important event was also the presentation of the university’s improved indoor athletic stadium.

SUSU Students Became Conductors on the Train of Friendship

The Train of Friendship has arrived to its destination. The week-long journey with a special crew of conductors started in Chelyabinsk and finished in Adler. Conductors were recruits of Russian Student Unions from the Ural Federal District and the Volga Federal District.

SUSU Preparing Festivities to the Knowledge Day

Russian scientists develop a “smart” sorbent for water purification

Scientists of the South Ural State University are engaged in the creation of a multifunctional carbon sorbent. The material will be able to absorb both several types of harmful substances produced in industrial production and selectively sorb individual organic substances. The original sorbent can be targeted at the most hazardous pollutants, the absorption of which will be a priority for it. On this topic, a scientific article was published in the journal Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, indexed by Scopus and Web of Science databases.
