Yuri Bashmet, Maestro of International Fame, Performed at SUSU

A night of sophisticated music has been organized at South Ural State University. As part of the 8th International Music Festival, a concert by Yuri Bashmet jointly with the Moscow Soloists chamber orchestra was held at our university with the support from the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region. The musicians presented a program of compositions by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and won the hearts of the audience.

Conference on KNAUF Construction Technologies Opened at SUSU

The 18th All-Russian Science-to-Practice Conference “Innovations in Construction. KNAUF Technologies” opened at the Sigma Academic Complex of South Ural State University on October 17th.

The conference is traditionally organized by South Ural State University and OOO KNAUF GIPS.

The conference brings together students, postgraduates, scientists, and representatives of the construction industry from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, and Chelyabinsk. The morning session was opened by the SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner.

SUSU Professor Took Part in 7th (23rd) All-Russian Archaeological Congress

The 7th (23rd) All-Russian Archaeological Congress is a tradition revived since pre-revolutionary times. The event takes place every four years, travelling to major scientific centres across our country. This year, the congress has been held at the Siberian Federal University in Krasnoyarsk.

The congress's work covered 17 topics: from the "Formation and Development of Cultural Traditions in the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic Periods" to "Computer Technologies and Non-destructive Methods in Archaeological Research".

SUSU International Students Win the 2nd Place in an Interuniversity Quiz

On October 15th, a quiz on “South Urals: Learn about the Land Where You Live” was held at the Russia – My History historical multimedia park. Five teams of 10 people each from different universities of Chelyabinsk took part in this game. South Ural State University was represented by students of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications.

Final Day of the 3rd All-Russian Children's Environmental Forum in Chelyabinsk

On October 15th, the final day of the 3rd All-Russian Children's Environmental Forum took place at the Taganay Congress Hall in Chelyabinsk. South Ural State University is one of its active organizers.

At the opening of the plenary session, the Chelyabinsk Region Governor Alexey Texler read a greeting from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

Autumn Cycle of Training Courses on Entrepreneurship Competences Began at SUSU

On October 15th, “Startup Guide: Bascis of Technological Entrepreneurship” training course on entrepreneurship competences was held at South Ural State University as part of the “Technologies” federal project and with the support from the University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform.

SUSU Students Win the "Student of the Year" Award

The regional round of the "Student of the Year" Russian National Award has been held. Students of South Ural State University have become prize winners in this contest!

3rd All-Russian Children's Environmental Forum Began at SUSU

On October 14th, the 3rd All-Russian Children's Environmental Forum started in the assembly hall of South Ural State University, bringing together middle and high school students from 51 regions of our country.

Automobile without an Engine: Chelyabinsk Scientists Develop a Backup Drive

Scientists from South Ural State University have developed a unique solution for improving the reliability of vehicles used in extreme conditions. The new backup drive allows vehicles to continue moving even if the main engine is damaged. This technology could become indispensable for the military and special forces, increasing the effectiveness of combat missions and protecting the lives of crews.

The idea for the development appeared spontaneously when one of the authors of the project was watching a report on the work of a maintenance battalion.

South Ural State University has taken its place in the 801-900 positions group and has become one of 1000 world’s top universities. In the ranking of the leading Russian universities, SUSU holds a place in the 30-34 positions group.

SUSU Students Become Prize-winners at an International Chessboxing Tournament

Athletes of the “Check and Round” SUSU Student Chessboxing Centre have won medals at an international chessboxing tournament as part of the 2nd World National Combat Sports Games. The competition was held in the Chuvash Republic, October 5th – 12th, 2025. 

SUSU Scientists on Guard of Health Protection

In Russia, the Agriculture and Processing Industry Workers' Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of October every year. In 2025, this professional holiday is celebrated on October 12th and not only by agricultural workers, specialists and top managers of agricultural enterprises, workers of the food processing sector and food manufacturers, but also by the SUSU researchers, who study biotechnology and make a serious contribution to solving of relevant problems of the agroindustrial complex.

SUSU Talent 2025: Students Demonstrate Their Talents at the SUSU Festival

On October 10th, a gala show of the SUSU Talent 2025 festival was held in the Assembly Hall of South Ural State University. Among the performers were the contest winners from various categories. The SUSU Talent 2025 festival is not only a traditional event that helps identify talented first-year students, but it is also a great opportunity for students to begin their career in creativity.

SUSU Vice-Rector Took Part in a Meeting of the Council of the Consortium on Machine Tool Engineering

On October 8th, Anton Korzhov, First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research at South Ural State University and Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), participated in a meeting of the Council of the National Research and Education Network for Machine Tool Engineering Consortium, held at the Crocus Expo IEC in Moscow.

The main topic of the meeting was uniting the industry's strengths: developing a common scientific and technical program, building human resources, and exploring growth opportunities for machine tool engineering in Russia.

Nobel-winning Metal-organic Frameworks Created at SUSU

On October 8, 2025, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for the development of metal-organic frameworks” was awarded to Susumu Kitagawa (Australia), Richard Robson (Australia), and Omar M. Yaghi (USA).

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are a construction kit in which metal units (iron, zinc, and zirconium ions) are connected via organic linkers, resulting in a "superporous" material.

Scientists Improve Sensor Accuracy Using Nanofluids and Machine Learning

A research study by an international team of scientists from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, India, and Russia on new capabilities of flow meters, has been published in the Scientific Reports journal. The team of scientists also included our fellow citizen Deputy Head of the SUSU Laboratory for Self-Validating Sensors, Systems, and Advanced Instrumentation Vladimir Sinitsin.

The scientists’ research focuses on the use of machine learning for modelling heat transfer in nanofluids.

SUSU Researchers Explain What Damage Telephone Scammers Cause to Residents of our Region

Experts from South Ural State University have conducted the first detailed study of the impact of telephone scams on the regional household economy. Nataliia Golubeva, Candidate of Sciences (Economics), Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Finance, and Financial Law at the SUSU Miass Branch has published a research paper based on telephone scam data from the city of Zlatoust for the first quarter of 2025.

SUSU Presented Its Digital Developments at an All-Russian Conference in Ufa

October 1st through October 3rd, the 3rd All-Russian Conference on the "Territory of Digital GROWTH" was held at the IQ Park in Ufa. In Russian the conference is titled "Территория цифрового РОСТа", where the РОСТ abbreviation stands for "Развитие. Образование. Сообщество. Технологии", or "Development. Education. Community. Technologies" in English.

SUSU Lecturer from the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Becomes a Finalist in the SHUM All-Russian Award in Media and Journalism

Matvey Sholokhov, a lecturer at the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations and graduate student of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, has been selected as a participant in the SHUM All-Russian Award. He is presenting the "Two Great Victories" music video. The public vote, which is a key requirement for winning the competition, is currently underway.

Future Engineers of the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School Learn Production from Their First Year of Studies

As part of the Fundamentals of Project Management discipline, first-year students of the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School have been taken on a tour round the leading mechanical engineering enterprises. Excursions and meetings with professionals have helped the students gain an inside look at production processes and obtain valuable experience.

ПИШ-101 group visited the DST-URAL tractor plant. The students observed the main production stages and visited the Kalachevo testing ground, where they examined modern bulldozer models.

Representatives of the SUSU Institute of Law Discussed Local Self-government Reform at a Roundtable Discussion on “Features of a New Approach to Regulating Local Self-government Issues”

An expert forum on transformation of local self-government in Russia was held at the Chelyabinsk City Duma. The event, moderated by the Director of the SUSU Institute of Law, Doctor of Sciences (Law), Professor Elena Titova and Associate Professor of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Candidate of Sciences (Law) Nataliia Koneva, brought together heads of representative bodies of municipalities from the Ural, South, Volga, and Far Eastern Federal Districts.

Cross-university Peer Review at SUSU: First Results

October 2nd to 3rd, 2025, a cross-university peer review was held at South Ural State University. Representatives of the Social Centre team, together with the SUSU Transformation Team, analyzed the results and promising areas of work at South Ural State University in terms of their alignment with the strategic objectives of the Priority 2030 Program.

Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the School of Economics and Management Visited a Meeting of the Association of Sino-Russian Economic Universities

September 25th and 26th of 2025, the 13th annual meeting of the Association of Sino-Russian Economic Universities (ASREU) was held at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON). This event was timed to coincide with the 95th Anniversary of UNECON and was supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

South Ural State University has been a member of the Association of Sino-Russian Economic Universities (ASREU) since 2015.
