Smart Transportation

Project Head
Vladimir Shepelev, Ph.D. (Engineering), Associate Professor
Department
Automobile Transport
Objective
Creating a single intelligent system of monitoring and control of transport flows on the basis of simulation modelling
Tasks
  • Creating a digital platform for collection and processing of big data volumes of multimedia information on the basis of intelligent traffic lights, collection of data from street-road network, smart bus stations, sensors on automobile transport, adaptive tracking cameras and RFID marks;
  • Creating macro- and mesomodels of road traffic of public and personal transport on the basis of simulation modelling, check-up of engineering hypotheses on road traffic organization, etc. using PTV VISSIM and VISSUM software;
  • Developing a system of coordinated adaptive “Smart traffic lights” with integrated dynamic road signs (Transit Signal Prioriti) for monitoring and control over transport flows and pedestrian traffic;
  • Developing an intelligent system for control over transport flows on the basis of data obtained from monitoring of road surface quality and ecological condition with the purpose to provide security of road traffic and reduce negative impact of automobile transport on the environment during unfavourable weather conditions
