Every year, the Vladimir Potanin Foundation holds the All-Russian competition for teaching staff and master's degree students targeted at grant support of higher education. Participants of the contest are 75 leading universities of the country.
Vladimir Sinitsin, leader of the project group works in the SUSU’s laboratory of technical diagnostics, and the project’s idea came up as a result of discussing technological problem with the representatives of nuclear industry. It turned out that the problem with control of accuracy of the temperature sensors has not been solved yet, and the laboratory staff started research in this field.

RAEX Ranking Agency (RAEX-Analytics) starts preparing for the seventh annual ranking of Russian universities. Ranking of the best 100 universities of Russia is formed on the basis of analyzed statistical data and results of surveys conducted among reference groups.
South Ural State University is the only educational institution of our region that has a Faculty of Military Education. Traditionally the faculty trains officers, sergeants, and reserve soldiers. Students have additional trainings once a week, and then they are awarded military ranks. Starting from the new academic year students of the SUSU’s Master’s Degree program will also be able to obtain a military speciality.
On April 6, South Ural State University is going to hold the Arabic Culture Day with participation of students from Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Jordan and Syria. Organizer of the event is SUSU’s International Affairs Division.

On April 2, the opening of the most massive youth festival called Student Spring Festival-2018, in which South Ural State University’s students who won the Spring at SUSU contest are to take part, is to be held. This is a unique project participated by several thousands of aspiring singers, dancers, actors and other performers from universities from all over Russia.
The finals of the elimination round of the annual student league of CASE-IN International Engineering Championship were held at South Ural State University.
The Championship was organized by Nadezhnaya Smena (Reliable Take-over) Foundation, Youth Forum of the Mining Industry Leaders Non-profit Partnership, and AstraLogika LLC. The co-organizer of the League on Electrical Power Engineering is the Association of the Russian National Committee of International Council of Large Electric Systems.
Modern land, air, and space transport, as well as industrial production are impossible to imagine without electric drives. The employees of the Department of Aircrafts and Automatic Units of the SUSU Polytechnic Institute, under the guidance of ProfessorSergey Voronin, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering) are developing new algorithms of vector control for electric drives, creating small devices for heart and lung machines, and powerful electrical machines for medicine, transport devices, and industry.
From March 7 through 9 of 2018, PROFEST-2018 All-Russian Technology Festival took place on the grounds of VDNH exhibition center; students of South Ural State University participated.
PROFEST All-Russian Technology Festival is the largest-in-Europe event in the sphere of children’s and youth’s engineering creativity, and the key events of the programs entitled “Robotic engineering: engineering cadres of innovative Russia” and “JuniorSkills”, implemented by the Volnoe Delo Oleg Deripaska Foundation.
Today, within the 3rd International Science and Education Forum, a Russian-Chinese documentary movie entitled “Under the walls of Moscow” was presented at SUSU. The movie was created under support of the Federal Press and Mass Communication Agency of the Russian Federation. Partners of the Grig-film producing movie company are the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio and Hong Kong Satellite TV (North-Eastern Bureau in Harbin, HKS Hong Kong Satellite TV).
President of European Journalism Training Association (EJTA – Belgium) Nico Drok has once again come to Chelyabinsk to participate in the Third Communication Leader of the 21st Century International Scientific and Educational Forum at SUSU.
Within the 3rd International Science and Education Forum entitled “Communication leader of the 21st century”, the 17th International Congress on Public Relations and Advertisement: Theory and Practice was held at SUSU. Organizer of the event was the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the ISSH’s Faculty of Journalism.
Additive Manufacturing, or Additive Fabrication (AF), is one of the most dynamically developing areas of digital manufacturing. A team of master’s degree students from the Department of Innovation Management in Business of SUSU School of Economics and Management created an algorithm for analyzing innovative methods of product manufacturing based on the use of additive manufacturing for industrial enterprises.

Today an opening ceremony for the Third Communication Leader of the 21st Century International Scientific and Educational Forum has been held in the Activity Hall of the SUSU’s Main University Building. This year’s slogan of the forum is “Uniting Europe and Asia”, and among the participants are European Journalism Training Association (Belgium), Northeast Petroleum University (China), and Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio (Russia).
APAIE-2018 Conference and Exhibition of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education started on March 25th and was attended by SUSU representatives.
The importance of continuous functioning of electrical equipment in such spheres as aerospace industry, atomic industry and medicine can’t be overestimated. A free master class on Short Terms Instead of Urgency is being organized at the SUSU MBA Center and the SUSU School of Business on March 29th. It is dedicated to implementation of QRM principles (Quick Response Manufacturing).
The master class is being held as a unique simulation business game, during which a problem situation which occurred at production and in the office of a company in a highly competitive market will be played out. As a result, the participants will be able to see in a practical way the benefits of implementing QRM principles.

The Project Analysis Session entitled “Projects that ensure implementation of the university’s strategy and transformation” has finished at SUSU. The session was devoted to analysis and assessment of SUSU’s strategy implementation process, determined in September of 2017; to specification of approaches and target milestones of the university in comparison with the world’s tendencies and best experiences of leaders in education; and to correction of projects that ensure implementation of the corrected strategy.

Founder and Director of Eurasian Federation of Oncology Somasundaram Subramanian visited South Ural State University.
Professor Somasundaram is also an oncology surgeon. The goal of his trip to Chelyabinsk was visiting the Chelyabinsk Oncology Center. South Ural State University also attracted the Professor’s attention, that is why the employees of the laboratory of nanotechnologies and laboratories of the Faculty of Physics presented him the university’s possibilities in the field of medicine.
