From 10th through 12th of April, a Congress of the Council of Young Researchers and Specialists of the Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts was held in Krasnoyarsk.
Researchers and specialists from more than 15 regions of Russia took part in the Congress. South Ural State University’s Council of Young Scientists was represented by Alisa Maltseva, Associate Professor of the Department of Developmental Psychology and Age Related Counseling.
Victory Waltz dance flashmob dedicated to one of the main holidays in our country, Victory Day, has become a traditional event for South Ural State University. Usually students from two faculties: the Faculty of Military Education and the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities were the event participants. This year students from all institutes and schools will be dancing on the square in front of the main university building to show their gratitude to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and to honour their memory.
In 2018 South Ural State University is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. The history of our university has seen many interesting events and facts. It is no surprise that not one generation of Chelyabinsk residents has obtained higher education here over the long period of the university’s existence. Some of those people chose science and teaching as their family profession.
The 3rd (final) round of the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Law was held at the Ural State Law University on April 13, 2018 under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

A special event dedicated to the Day of the Victory of ancient Russian soldiers of the Prince Aleksandr Nevsky over German knights on Lake Chudskoe (Battle on the Ice of 1242) was held at the Faculty of Military Education. The annual Blood Donor Day event takes place at South Ural State University. This year, it is held on the occasion of the National Donor Day celebrated on April 20.

The anniversary 25th Lomonosov conference for students, postgraduates and young scientists was held at Lomonosov Moscow State University, where Master’s students of the Faculty of Journalism of the SUSU Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities took part.
Today the ecological problem is topical for the mankind more than ever, and the world’s leading scientists are working on solving it. A whole number of scientific projects in this field are being fulfilled at South Ural State University, including the creation of new materials for water and air treatment in industry.
On April 19th a round table on Topical Issues of Teaching International Students in a Mixed Audience will be held at Sigma Education and Recreation Building. The event was organized by the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, Center for Sociocultural Adaptation, and International Affairs Division.
This year over 330 students have taken part in Student Spring Festival. Individual performers and groups of the SUSU Creativity Center won 60 prizes with almost half thereof being the 1st prizes.
Deep Vision Dance Theater headed by Ekaterina Galanova and Maria Rokhlis presented 18 performances for the jury, and 17 of them were awarded prizes. Primavera Choir headed by Aleksei Prosekov participated under two nominations and took two first prizes.

The year of 2018 for SUSU is the year for summarizing intermediate results of everything that has been done within 75 years of successful activity in the sphere of education, science and student life. On April 18th and 19th Donor Day will be held at South Ural State University, and anyone willing will be able to donate blood. The event will be held from 8:00 to 13:00. This time the event is dedicated to National Donor Day celebrated on April 20th.
Donors are people who voluntarily, because of their kind-hearted generosity, give their blood to people. The word “donor” comes from the Latin donore meaning “I give”. Only healthy individuals who complete a rigorous medical examination can give blood. The health of each donor is checked before every blood draw.
From the 9th through the 14th of April, the SUSU team took part in an education program of SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management entitled “A model of globally competitive university” and targeted specifically at managerial teams of the universities participating in Project 5-100.
April 17th through April 20th, the 15th Green Apple International Youth Festival of Marketing, Advertising and PR-communications starts at the Department of Marketing of the SUSU School of Economics and Management.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Activity Hall of SIGMA Education and Recreation Building on April 17th at 14:00.
Summer is very near, and every summer for 60 years now the South Ural State University recreation complex has been inviting people to take a break from the city, work, school, and daily stress by plunging into a special atmosphere of unity and warmth.
A true New Year holiday got celebrated by students at South Ural State University.
In the middle of April (on 13th or 14th day), when the sun moves from the twelfth house of the zodiac (the sign of Pisces) to the first house (the sign of Aries), Sri Lankan people celebrate their national New Year - Aluth Avurudda. This holiday is celebrated by two Sri Lankan nations: Sinhalese and Tamils. The New Year signifies harvest of rice and symbolizes the end of one solar cycle and the beginning of the new one.
In September, a unique-for-Chelyabinsk Laboratory of Simulation Learning entitled “Efficient Production” is planned to be opened on the grounds of South Ural State University’s School of Economics and Management. In the course of classes, students will master in practice the fundamentals of “lean production” concept in business management, which nowadays is the world’s mainstream of management.
On April 20th and 21st a lecture will be delivered and a master class will be held at the Museum and Exhibition Center of Chelyabinsk State Museum of Local History by a multi-disciplinary designer Mono Grinbaum from Buenos Aires (Argentina).
