Every day athletes experience serious physical loads, that is why it is important for them to constantly monitor their health status. To obtain indices of the functional state of athletes in a distance mode and at all training periods, the scientists of South Ural State University have created a system of simplified and continuous electrocardiogram tracing.

April 2 in our country is the Cosmonautics Day. On this day in 1961, Yuriy Gagarin performed his first flight into space. During decades, the Soviet Union was proud with the success of its cosmonautics, including the flight of the first-in-the-world female astronaut Valentina Tereshkova, walking into the open space, and the longest flight in the history of cosmonautics. There are thousands of people and tens of working teams standing behind successful flights and doing everything they can for the progress of space industry.
Student Leader of the Chelyabinsk Region 2018 Contest wrapped up on South Ural. April 6th through April 8th, 11 representatives of the Region’s institutions of higher education fought to win and gain the right to pass on to the district rounds. On April 12th Russia celebrates Cosmonautics Day to commemorate the first space flight performed by Yuri Gagarin. Successful flights are a joint effort of thousands of people, dozens of groups of workers, who are doing their best to contribute to the progress in the aerospace field. For over 60 years the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of South Ural State University has been training specialists in this sector. The Faculty Dean Aleksandr Kartashev shares on strategic fields of development of the Faculty, on its partners, and on celebrating Cosmonautics Day.
On April 13, a celebration of Aluth Avurudda, the national New Year in the traditions of Sri Lanka island (Ceylon) is to be held at Sigma university complex. The event is organized by international students of SUSU under support of Association of International Students and the International Affairs Division of South Ural State University.
In 2018 South Ural State University is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. The university has passed a long way of development over this period of time, and brought up several generations of talented scientists recognized not only in Russia, but abroad as well. Moreover, the university is represented by whole dynasties of scientists, among which is Tashchev family. The total record of service of its three generations in SUSU amounts to 235 years.
A meeting of the Chairman of the Student Community of the city of Freiberg (Germany), Thomas Schmaltz, with students of Chelyabinsk universities was held at South Ural State University.
SUSU students have the unique possibility to take part in summer language school in Germany. The school is organized on the grounds of the Freiberg Mining Academy, one of the most well-known higher education institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany.
On April 10 through 25 of 2018, the exhibition of The Most Beautiful Books of Germany 2016&2017 is to be held in Chelyabinsk in reading room No.2 of the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library (60 Lenin prospect). The exhibition displays the winners of a similarly-named contest, the best edition-bound books of Germany by their design. This is the second time that SUSU staff takes part in organizing such exhibition.

On April 10th the Praise to Men of Labour! contest on engineering competences wrapped up at South Ural State University. This year, the participants of the final stage included representatives of five regions of the Ural Federal District: the Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Kurgan, Chelyabinsk Regions, and Khanty-Mansijsk Autonomous District, 21 people in total.

Last weekend Gagarin Sports Competition 2018 event was held at SUSU. Students competed in various sports: from chess to table tennis.
The event was held under the guidance of the Deputy Dean of Sports Rashit Shaikhetdinov. The majority of students opted for competitions in chess. Each game was individual, some people played for speed, some people thought every move through. The participants competed not only with their groupmates but also with senior students.
The Young Progressors Olympiad for schoolchildren took place at South Ural State University. The event was organized by the SUSU Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.
The Olympiad is held for the 8th time, bringing together many schoolchildren studying in 5th-11th grades of general education institutions (gymnasiums, lyceums, schools), students of college and professional lyceums.

As compared to the results of the previous year in 2018 South Ural State University climbed from position 573 up to 414 in the general world ranking, and from position 37 up to 12 in RankPro 2017/2018 ranking among Russian universities.
On April 3 of 2018, results of the IoT Samsung Academy contest for opening education centers were summarized, an by the results SUSU was granted the right to open a unique training laboratory for studying IoT technologies (IoT is for Internet of Things) on its grounds on the basis of solutions of Samsung Company, the world’s leader in the sphere of information technology and radio electronics.
