Specialists from QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Company will hold a series of workshops at SUSU November 30ththrough December 1st. Quacquarelli Symonds performs expert-and-analytical studies and publishes rankings of the top world universities every year. Within the framework of carrying out the Plan of Events on Fulfilling the Competitiveness Enhancement Pprogram (Roadmap), the specialists from QS and SUSU will be discussing the development and implementation of a complex of measures on improving the SUSU’s position in the QS international ranking.
On December 1, 2017 at 15:00 a celebration will take place at the SUSU Activity Hall on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Instrumentation Engineering Faculty, which became part of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2016.

Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Thermal Power Engineering of South Ural State University Konstantin Osintsev has developed an energy technology complex based on solar collectors which would allow to implement elements of renewable power generation at thermal power plants.
On November 22nd a new ranking was published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) – QS World University Rankings BRICS 2018.
Among other things the QS ranking takes into account a university’s reputation among employers, ratio of teaching staff VS students, total amount of the published articles and number of citations.
The results have been calculated and the winners named at the final round of the Open International Internet Competition on the History of Russia, Social Science and Cultural Science (November 10th), and on the Russian Language, Philosophy and Law (November 11th).
The second (and final) round of the Open International Student Internet Competition was held at 33 main universities in the form of on-line testing.

In 2016, Professor Artem Eduardovich was invited to become Head of the SUSU world-class International Research Laboratory for Multiscale Modeling of Polyfunctional Compounds.
Opening of a monument to the great Russian reformer Pyotr Stolypin took place in Chelyabinsk.
The four-meterhigh sculpture was installed in front of the Rodina (Motherland) Chelyabinsk Hall of Chamber and Organ Music. Pyotr Stolypin is embodied wearing his working uniform jacket and with documents in hand. The sculpture and bas reliefs depicting sights of our Ural city were moulded in Smolensk. Lanterns and benches, also positioned around the monument, were created by masters from Kasli.
Studies of optical moments performed by the Junior Research Assistant at the SUSU’s Laboratory of Physical Research Marianna Vlazneva will help improve orientation of optic-fiber sensors for measuring various physical quantities. The young scientist is the winner of the Prospects of Science 2016 contest, annually held at SUSU under Project 5-100.
Educational, scientific and museum institutions of Chelyabinsk celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Russian revolution by various events. Methodological workshop of the ISSH historians will contribute to the celebratory events on November 23 of 2017.
On November 20, 2017 the second and final information day for the first-year foreign students and those studying Russian was held at Sigma Conference Hall. The event was hosted by the Head of the International Affairs DivisionOlga Yaroshenko. The information day was organized in five languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French and Russian. Over 100 people from different countries took part in this event.
Friday, November 17th a ceremony of awarding the Legislative Assembly scholarships to students and postgraduates of professional educational organizations and educational organizations of higher education was held at the Great Hall of the Chelyabinsk Region Legislative Assembly. Employees, students and postgraduates of South Ural State University also took part in this ceremony.
