Foreign post graduate students studying at South Ural State University within the framework of academic mobility programs will take active part in ‘Science of SUSU’ forum dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Russian Science. They are citizens of Iraq, China, Tajikistan, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and other countries. Within the framework of the Forum they will visit scientific and technical centers and university laboratories excursions, as well as visit SUSU Museum of History where they can learn the history of the scientific schools of the University.
The results of VII Internet Mathematical Olympiad for Students, which was held by Ariel University (Israel) on December 15, 2015, were summarized. 127 teams from Russia, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Israel, Turkmenistan and other countries took part in this competition. Moscow State University, North-Eastern Federal University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, universities from Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Perm, and Chelyabinsk were among the Russian participants.
20 specialists of Volzhsky Pipe Plant (VPP), which is a part of TMK (Pipe Metallurgical Company) have completed a program of professional retraining “Metal Treatment under Pressure. Pipe Welding”. The special training course has been developed by South Ural State University and it corresponds to the specialist training program for universities. The training process was organized directly on the premises. As graduation works the trainees developed and defended project proposals in the context of pipe production.
Scientists from South Ural State University held a seminar on geoinformatics at the University of Guantanamo (Cuba). After this seminar the representatives Russia and Cuba will discuss the possibility of creating a geoinformation observatory.
“Creation of a geoinformation observatory will allow Cuba and Russia to continue collaboration in the field of geoinformatics,” reports Berenice Servantes, Director of the Russian-Iberoamerican International Center of RSSU.
The meeting of academic staff of the University with a leading expert in the field of Russian education, Professor of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, Deputy Chairman of the Council of International Jury of Project 5-100 Andrey Volkov took place at SUSU on February 10.
The selection of projects for a final round of the program “U.M.N.I.K”, organized by the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology will be held at the University in the framework of the forum “Science of SUSU”. The winners of the final round will get funding in the amount of 400 000 rubles.
Chelyabinsk branch of the Association of Foreign Students together with the Office of International Cooperation of SUSU invite everyone to celebrate the Chinese New Year which will be held on February 17, 2016. Guests will be able to take part in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and a master class on making Christmas toys and win a prize in a Christmas quiz.
The scientists of SUSU together with engineers of ‘KamAz’ developed a charging device for electromobiles of this trademark, the turnout of which is planned for the year 2020. This was reported by TASS information agency in South Ural State University which deals with this development. Earlier ‘KamAz’ announced their plans to produce an urban elecromobile; however, as it was noted by the company, “development of electromobiles restrains the cost of accumulator systems”.
On the 5th of February South Ural State University celebrates the Day of Russian Science. This significant for the University day was opened by the exhibition of the results of scientific and technical developments of SUSU, where more than 50 expositions were presented: starting from anatomical insoles and titanic bioimplants of craniofacial bone to new diesel engines valves, systems of automatic inflation of the tyres and equipment of speed charge of automobile accumulators.

On January 29-31 the largest international competition Global Game Jam will be traditionally held at the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Informatics of SUSU. GGJ participants have 48 hours to organize a team and develop a computer game on the given topic from the scratch simultaneously with more than 20 000 programmers, artists, game designers and simply game fans from dozens of countries.
