On April 6, 2016 the Day of Arab culture, the festival with the participation of students from Arab countries, was held at SUSU. It was a big, informative event. The celebration was attended by students from six countries from the Arab region: Yemen, Egypt, Iran, Palestine, Syria, and Algeria.
On April 15th and 22nd, the third and final stage of the open championship in project management in the Chelyabinsk Governor’s Cup (PMCup), is being held.

“Rector’s Hour” was held on April 2nd, during which Aleksandr Shestakov and parents of first and second course students examined the university’s development within the “5-100” program, aimed at increasing competitiveness.
During the meeting, SUSU’s rector told parents about the university’s goals for the next 4 years, and also about how exactly students will be involved in the program. According to Aleksandr Leonidovich, the university’s strategic development initiatives will positively affect education.

The Beijing Polytechnical Institute invites students to their master’s and doctor’s programs and for student exchanges of one to two semesters.

On March 29, SUSU Rector Alexander Shestakov met directors of schools, lyceums and gymnasiums of Chelyabinsk. Alexander Leonidovich told the heads of educational institutions about ongoing changes at the University as a result of its participation in the 5-100 Project. Special focus was on the position of SUSU in the hierarchy of Russian universities and international rankings and cooperation with schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, and colleges under new conditions of the University development.
In autumn 2015 the associate professor of the Department of General and Theoretical Physics of SUSU Sergey Podoshvedov defended his doctoral dissertation in quantum informatics. We talked about his career and this research area.

The second stage of the Open Competition among Students of General and Professional Education Organizations in Project Management at the Chelyabinsk Region Governor’s Cup, “PMCup”, was held March 14th through march 24th. It was held in two heats: school teams participated March 14-17 and teams of professional educational organizations participated March 21-24 in the on-site stage.
The SUSU Faculty of Journalism successfully completed their work in the First International Scientific Forum “Communication Leader of the 21st Century” on March 26th. Over the four days of the forum, SUSU hosted more than 600 talented school and university students from France, Venezuela, Italy, Laos, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and more than 70 Russian cities – from Abakan to Yakutsk.
СThe exhibition “Lady’s Trinkets” will be open to the public from March 30 to April 30 in the Art Hall of SUSU. Despite an airy name, longstanding archeological and ethnographic studies of the Southern Urals form the basis of this exhibition.
This Saturday on April 2 SUSU will held the collegiate programming contest “Prime Time” among bachelor’s and master’s degree students.
During 5 hours teams comprised of 2-3 people will develop mathematical algorithms and write program codes, solving unconventional problems as quick as possible. The participants should apply their knowledge in the field of mathematics and programming to become a finalist.
The first regional scientific business school was held at SUSU in February. The initiative for organizing business schools throughout Russia belongs to the Ministry of Economic Development. The event is held through the Russian Politechnical Society. At SUSU, it was held as part of the “Step into the Future” project, with assistance from the Office of Science and Innovation.
The delegation which included representatives of the Government and the business industry of Chelyabinsk region made a working visit to Iran. The purpose of the visit was to expand business partnerships and to build cooperation with the Islamic Republic. The delegation was headed by the Governor of Chelyabinsk region, Boris Dubrovsky, including representatives of South Urals; Vice-Rector for International Relations of SUSU, Victor Katochkov, took part in the trip.
South Ural State University has signed a cooperation agreement with Joanneum University of Applied Sciences (Graz, Austria).
Joanneum University is one of the oldest and largest Austria’s universities of applied sciences. Its main campus is situated in the popular student city of Graz. The other two campuses are located in Kapfenberg and Bad Gleichenberg.
