A three-day educational intensive course for school teachers in the Chelyabinsk Region, “Transformation of the Profession by AI: New Horizons with a Digital Assistant,” has been launched at the School 21Campus at South Ural State University.
At the opening of the event, Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Aleksandr Kozlov delivered a welcoming speech. He emphasized the importance of preparing teachers to work in new digital conditions:
"Artificial intelligence is one of the key technologies that is developing rapidly and demonstrating impressive results. It is gradually becoming a part of everyone's life, so teachers should not remain aloof from this technology. Moreover, they should understand it to a greater extent, because children are rapidly mastering new technologies and tools. This year, on the instructions of the Governor, a Council on Artificial Intelligence has been created, which will determine the strategy for the development and implementation of this technology in the Chelyabinsk Region."
The “Transformation of the Profession by AI: New Horizons with a Digital Assistant” intensive program is aimed at helping participants expand their knowledge and skills in using artificial intelligence technologies in their professional activities, as well as get acquainted with the current trends and latest practices in this area.
"Many thanks to our partners for this opportunity. Participants have a chance to get acquainted with artificial intelligence not only from the point of view of user functions, but also the possibilities that it brings for the implementation of various complex projects and tasks. Artificial intelligence not only changes the life of society, it radically transforms relationships between people. It should be noted that digital technology will never replace a teacher, but it is very important for teachers to unload themselves into this world, see how artificial intelligent relationships with students work, how the educational process is transformed thanks to the update of technologies," said Vitaliy Litke, Minister of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region.
The intensive course will last 3 days and includes master classes, sessions, hackathons, individual and team projects, during which participants will gain new educational experience and applied skills in AI.
"I would like to thank Sber company and the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region for conducting this training, which will help teachers in their professional activities. I am very glad that SUSU has become a platform for the methodological and professional growth of the pedagogical community of the Chelyabinsk Region," emphasized the SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner.
The training takes place at School 21, Sber's free of charge educational project for training digital engineers. The process is based on the peer-to-peer method, in which participants act as both students and teachers.
"Artificial intelligence can become an important assistant for teachers," said Andrey Ruchai, Manager of the Chelyabinsk branch of Sber. "For example, it can take on routine tasks and free up the teacher's time for what really matters: teaching children, developing them, helping them become independent, strong individuals who will benefit our country."
Director of the SUSU Centre for Training Personnel in Information Technology "School 21" Dmitriy Kozlenkov emphasized the relevance of the topic of the intensive course:
"Artificial intelligence is not something incredible and distant, it is something that surrounds us today in all spheres of life. Therefore, I am sure that the program will bring great benefits to all participants in their professional activities."
On the final day of training, participants will present their project solutions and cases, after which a formal awards ceremony will take place.
