Quality is under control: at Trade and Economic Faculty discussed the evaluation methods of food products

Applied Biotechnology Department of SUSU Trade and Economic Faculty together with SUSU Scientific Library held the seminar "Quality Comparative Evaluation of Food Products by Contemporary Research Methods". Anna Mikhaylovna Belokamenskaya, consulting chemist of public health laboratory Federal Sanitary and Epidemiological Centre in Southern parts of Chelyabinsk region attended that seminar.

Future specialists in the sphere of quality and technology of food products of animal origin were interested in the effectiveness of the methods and how fast it is possible to do the quality evaluation of food stock in the laboratory conditions. Also they asked which methods and new equipment can be used for these purposes.

Anna Mikhaylovna told that at the present time the most popular instrumental methods for analysis in the world are atomic absorption spectrometry and stripping voltammetry. Nowadays these methods have been successfully implemented in the laboratories of Russian State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service (ROSPOTREBNADZOR) and other institutions who perform the quality control of food products and food stock.

At the seminar Anna Belokamenskaya presented the evaluation of economic effectiveness of implementation of new equipment in Testing Laboratory Center. The important and current task fot the present time is to apply the equipment of stripping voltammetry and to implement safety control methods of food products using this highly-sensitive technique. If these methods become widely used and the laboratories of our country are equipped with photometrical and atomic absorption analysis equipment we will start to eat absolutely healthy food products of high quality.
