SUSU Will Receive Grant Support under Priority 2030 Program

On November 24th, the results of the selection process for the Priority 2030 program were announced in Moscow. 106 universities participating in the program will receive grants for their development programs. SUSU is among these universities.

It is worth noting that the meeting of the Council for Support of Development Programs is a key event for all universities participating in the Priority program. Over four days in November, from November 18th to 21st, representatives from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, business, and the scientific community had been analyzing the universities' preliminary performance results for 2025.

Ninety-nine participants in the Priority program's main track, as well as candidate universities, presented their 2025 performance reports to the Council.

"The result of this work is an updated list of the "Priority" universities. A total of 106 universities will receive support under the program this year. The total amount of funds distributed among the universities will be 26.8 billion roubles. It is important to note that the recipients of the subsidies are primarily regional universities. Today, they compete alongside leading Moscow and St. Petersburg universities for the best results from the implementation of their strategic technology projects," emphasized Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov.

The program's main track included 87 universities from 36 regions across our country.

Based on the Council's findings in November 2025, the main track universities were divided into three groups:

  • The first group includes 13 universities, each of which will receive approximately 830 million roubles.
  • The second group includes 22 universities, each of which will receive approximately 400 million roubles.
  • The third group includes 52 universities, each of which will receive up to 100 million roubles.

Based on the Council's selection results, our university entered the third group. It is important to note that, compared to last year, SUSU climbed 19 positions up: from the 79th to the 60th place! Furthermore, within the third group, our university improved its standing, having moving up from the 47th to the 25th place.

Grant funds can be used to provide incentive payments to faculty, develop university infrastructure, acquire high-tech equipment, attract world-class researchers to universities, and organize scientific events.

A new feature introduced in 2025 is the program's focus on achieving technological leadership for our country. To achieve this, the "Priority" universities were required to completely restructure their development programs and refocus their research projects on developing specific products and technologies in demand in our country.

As a result, by 2025, universities participating in Priority 2030 had shown their plans to implement projects in nine areas of national technological leadership projects.

SUSU, in line with this general trend, had also set a course for technological leadership. Our university is developing projects in three key areas: "Intelligent Manufacturing", "Fundamentals of the Synthesis and Use of Non-conventional Materials," and "Ecology of Industrial Agglomerations". The emphasis is placed on the "Intelligent Manufacturing" project and the development of robotics.

SUSU had launched an internal transformation to strengthen its contribution to our country's technological leadership and development of engineering education in Russia. Specifically, during our dissertation defence, the emphasis was placed on developing the Industrial Robotics program within the frameworks of the Intelligent Manufacturing Strategic Technology Project. In 2025, the Robotics Development Centre has opened at SUSU.

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science's Priority 2030 program had been launched in 2021. Today, it is the largest university support program in our country's history. By order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, it has been extended until 2030. Since 2025, the Priority 2030 program has been implemented as part of the Youth and Children national project.

The approved list of participants and candidates for the 2026 program can be found here.
