The career guidance exhibition for schoolchildren, “Applicant 2025”, opened in Chelyabinsk. During day one of the forum, hundreds of schoolchildren visited the South Ural State University booth to gain insight into the professions of the future.
The “Applicant” exhibition is the largest educational event in the South Ural region. Its advantage lies in the opportunity to learn about the educational programmes in our region's leading vocational schools and universities, receive personal consultations, and take professional assessments.
“SUSU takes part in a large-scale regional exhibition of our region’s leading vocational schools, universities, and enterprises. We represent the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School and tell schoolchildren about the exciting and promising prospects of being an engineer. Our goal is to demonstrate that an engineering education opens up huge opportunities for development. Representatives from other SUSU schools and institutes are also participating in the exhibition, introducing guests to their areas of study, research projects, and achievements to prove that SUSU is the best university in our region!” said Dmitriy Antonov, Leading Student Services Specialist of the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School.
South Ural State University welcomed guests with an event-packed program. Representatives of the School of Electronics and Computer Science, Institute of Engineering and Technology, “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School, School of Medical Biology, Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, Institute of Law, th Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service, Institute of Architecture and Construction, and the Multidiscipline College of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service told schoolchildren about our university’s most relevant areas of study, employment prospects at leading companies in our region, and the benefits of studying at a our region’s leading university and student life.
A rich and versatile program of practical master classes was organised for them. The “Digital Ural” centre for training top specialists in the field of information technology held an interactive session on the “Introduction to Programming Modern Robotic Systems”, where participants were able to control robots. The “VirtUm” Centre for Academic Programmes in the Field of Artificial Intelligence invited guests to a captivating session on the “Investigation with AI”, where students learned how neural networks help find patterns and solve real problems.
“I really enjoyed the master class on artificial intelligence: it was interesting to try my hand at solving a real problem and better understand this technology. I am already thinking about my upcoming university applications and, of course, I am considering SUSU”, shared 10th-form school student Artem.
The Institute of Engineering and Technology also demonstrated its abilities by organizing a mechatronics workshop, where participants were introduced to modern engineering technologies. Specialists of the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School immersed the students in the world of automotive design using 3D scanning and 3D printing.
"SUSU staff members provided detailed information about admissions and research projects. I also had an opportunity to meet students and learn about extracurricular activities and other advantages of the university. I really liked the engineering programmes, as they are currently very relevant and in demand among employers, with whom I also had the opportunity to meet at the exhibition," noted 11th-form school student Sofiia.
Visitors to the exhibition also took career guidance tests and received consultations on admissions from representatives of the SUSU School of Physics and Mathematics.
