Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Has Participated in Celebration of the First Birthday of School 21

The fist anniversary of functioning of the Sber company’s School 21 campus has been celebrated at South Ural State University. Over one year, this educational project has gained a reputation of a unique platform for training specialists of the future in the fields of programming and digital technologies.

This festive occasion gathered together students, teaching staff members and guests of honour. Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler congratulated the students and the team:

“A big team of enthusiastic professionals have been working here, along with all those who took training in this School and put much effort into it, so that this project could become successful. The first year was a very eventful one. And there is every reason to believe that even more interesting events await us ahead. School 21 celebrates its first birthday with new projects.”

Participants of the festivities also included: Deputy Governor Aleksandr Kozlov, our region’s Minister of Education and Science Vitaliy Litke, Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner, General Director of PAO ChKPZ (Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant) Andrey Gartung, Deputy Chairperson of the Ural Bank PAO Sber Mariia Osipova, Manager of the Chelyabinsk Branch of Sber Andrey Ruchai, and Director of the School 21 educational project Aleksandr Fediakov.

The festivities program comprised meetings with directors of the leading IT companies, HR activities, and consultations with experts. Also, as part of this event, the campus staff members were awarded for their contribution to work: Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Aleksandr Kozlov awarded letters of acknowledgment from our region’s head to the contractors, who had participated in the construction of School 21; and the SUSU Vice-Rector for Estates and Facilities Vadim Trofimychev awarded letters of acknowledgment from our university’s Rector to builders and staff members, who works for the benefit of the campus every day.

“It has been not that easy to create this project, but it is important that it keeps functioning and developing successfully. One year ago it was even difficult to imagine that a modern campus could emerge at a standard academic building. SUSU did much in order to launch this project on time. Support was rendered by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, and by Sber, of course. We are very happy that with our joint effort we managed to create a project, which is another jewel of Chelyabinsk and which builds a foundation for the future of our city and our region in this new economic order that implies the introduction of IT technologies and artificial intelligence,” noted Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Aleksandr Kozlov.

School 21 is a free of charge project for training digital engineers. The educational process is based on the peer-to-peer method, in which participants act as both students and teachers.

A special event within this festivity was the opening of a new “School 21. Start” track, where 120 children aged 11 to 14 take training. As part of this project, school kids gain their first skills in robotics and programming. PAO Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant acts as general partner here.

“Over this year it has become obvious that a great place has been created in Chelyabinsk. The atmosphere is wonderful here, and kids who come to take training become people who are capable of changing this world for better. Today, we have officially launched the track for children. After all, namely this generation will be creating our future,” shared Director of the School 21 educational project Aleksandr Fediakov.

The School 21 educational project at South Ural State University has become a true centre of attraction of ideas, talents and new opportunities in the field of information technologies.
