Representatives of SUSU and Association of International Students Paid a Working Visit to Mongolia

Team of the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni took a trip to Mongolia with an aim to invite foreign citizens to study in the universities of Chelyabinsk and facilitate the process of their further adaptation.

Head of the SUSU International Student Support, Head of the Association Valeria Chachina, Deputy President of the Association Dilrabo Tozhikulova, and Director of TUMED EDUCATION (the only Mongolian organization which is engaged in promoting Russian education) Ts. Shurenchimeg were the first to visit the Darkhan Uul Aimag (province).

The representatives of the Association were welcomed at the Administration of Darkhan. Deputy Governor Javkhlan Banzragch and Consul of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Kuznetsov were present at the meeting.

Deputy Governor of the region spoke on the history of the construction of the city of Darkhan – the city of friendship. In 1961, namely the Soviet government provided huge assistance and with the joint efforts of the Soviet people the construction of the city began. According to the name of the city, it was designed as an industrial centre for the northern territories of Mongolia. The city remains mainly an industrial centre with about 82% of the population of the province living here. Here, people remember about warm relations between Russia and Mongolia.

In their turn, the Russian delegation expressed an intention to develop and maintain Russian-Mongolian relations, also noting the possible role of the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni and South Ural State University in this field. The Association and SUSU are members of the “Academic Partnership” Mongolian-Russian joint project aimed at bilateral educational collaboration, which is implemented with the support of the General Directorate of Education: the Executive Agency of the Government of Mongolia and the Department of Education of Ulaanbaatar.

Within the frameworks of a two-day business trip, meetings in schools, secondary specialized educational institutions and universities of Darkhan were organized. During the meetings, school pupils and students learned about the Chelyabinsk Region and universities of the city of Chelyabinsk. The possible collaboration options in educational and humanitarian spheres were discussed with the heads of institutions. One of these directions was determined as an advanced training of teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language, as well as subject teachers (teachers of Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry).

Darkhan, just like Chelyabinsk, is an industrial city where the largest metallurgical plant and bakery products factory are located. Representatives of the Association were invited on a tour round the enterprises. The head of the plant, Ganbold Gombo, expressed the need for training specialists to meet production needs.

The meetings were organized as part of the Association’s project on Attracting Foreign Citizens to Training, and Adaptation at the Universities of Chelyabinsk, which won the grant competition of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region. The members of the delegation obtained knowledge on effective interaction with the Mongolian young people in the specified areas of interest.
