SUSU Rector Presents New Team of Vice-Rectors at the University Council Meeting

SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner presented the updated team of Vice-Rectors at the meeting of the University Council on April 25, 2023.

"The management team plays a special role in achieving the goals set for SUSU. Most of us understand that it is impossible to achieve success or to solve complex tasks alone, we must combine our efforts. New people in the team strengthen the potential for development at SUSU. These specialists come to solve important tasks—to analyse the situation, generate new ideas, and develop modern approaches to their implementation. A modern management team will give the university a new push towards dynamic growth," said Rector Alexander Wagner, thanking the previous team of Vice-Rectors for their work.

The following Vice-Rectors will continue their work in the team: the First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Irina Savelieva, Vice-Rector for Education Marina Potapova, Vice-Rector for Research Education Centres and Integrated Science and Technology Programmes Sergey Vaulin, Vice-Rector for Economics and Finance Olga Shcherbinina, Vice-Rector for Estates and Facilities Vadim Trofimychev, and Vice-Rector for Security Pavel Sonin.

The SUSU Rector also announced the names of two new Vice-Rectors: Aleksandr Gollai, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation of SUSU; and Anton Manuylov, Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs.

Aleksandr Gollai, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science of SUSU, Professor of the Department of Informational and Analytical Support of Control in Social and Economic Systems, was appointed Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation of SUSU.

The main purpose of the new appointment is to support projects for the digital transformation of processes aimed at improving the efficiency of the university. It will also be the responsibility of the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation to ensure interaction with digital transformation managers at various levels of government responsible for the results of digitalization processes and the implementation of measures of the Digital Economy national program, which is the result of the increasing role of universities in the life of their respective regions (the third mission of universities).

After enrolling at SUSU in 1998, Aleksandr Gollai continued to tie his further professional activities with the university. He held engineering and teaching positions at the Faculty of Physics and Metallurgy (now part of the Institute of Engineering and Technology), the Faculty of Business and Law (now part of the School of Economics and Management), and the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. Aleksandr Gollai has been working on projects in the field of organizational development, including through the implementation of digital technologies, for many years. He is included in the Register of Highly Qualified Leaders and Specialists in Digital Transformation of Public Administration. Aleksandr Gollai actively works with public authorities of the Chelyabinsk Region on improving management efficiency. He helped develop the Strategy for Socio-economic Development of Chelyabinsk up to 2035. He is the secretary of the Expert Council for the implementation of the pilot Smart City project for digitalization of the city of Chelyabinsk. Previously, while continuing his work at the university, he held senior positions in a number of companies as CEO, Director of Development, and Director of Investments.

Anton Manuylov was appointed Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs. The main purpose of this office is to implement national youth policy, solve social issues among students, achieve maximum involvement of students in municipal and regional, district, and federal projects and programs aimed at development of student potential, ensure the necessary conditions for the effective operation of student organisations and associations at SUSU, etc.

Anton Manuylov graduated from the Ural State Law University in 2015 with a degree in Jurisprudence. In 2018 he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Sciences in Law. From 2014 to 2019, he worked as Vice-Rector for Youth Policy at the Ural State Law University. From 2019 to 2023, he worked as Director of the Institute of Justice of the Ural State Law University. In 2023 he was named Adviser to the Rector on Legal Issues at SUSU and Associate Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the SUSU Institute of Law.

Anton Manuylov has experience in public activities: from 2016 to 2018 he was the Regional Coordinator of the Volunteers of Victory Russian Public Movement in the Sverdlovsk Region; from 2015 to 2018 he was a member of the Public Chamber of the Sverdlovsk Region of the Third Convocation and Chairman of the Commission for Youth Affairs; from 2020 to 2023 he was a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Sverdlovsk Region; and more.
