SUSU Biotechnologists Present Research Results at Smart Cities Conference

Scientists from South Ural State University (SUSU) took part in an important event for world science, that took place on December 6–8, 2022: an online conference dedicated to the creation of Smart Cities. The 6th IET SMART CITIES SYMPOSIUM, Conference (online), and Track 10: Healthcare and Medicine (IoMT) were held on the UNIVERSITY OF BAHRAIN platform.

During the three days of the conference, the results of scientific research by many foreign colleagues were presented. The program of the event gives an expanded understanding of the importance of the issues discussed and those proposals that can bring humanity closer to life in the new conditions.

The scientific team of the Department of Food and Biotechnology, under the leadership of Irina Potoroko, prepared and presented the report "Food resources in food system technology: Bifunctional food system technology based on Pickering emulsions" on scientific developments supported by the Russian Science Foundation Grant 22-26-00079 at the Healthcare and Medicine (IoMT) section. Third-year graduate students (Ammar Kadi, Mostafa Abotaleb), a senior researcher, a leading researcher (Uday D. Bagale), Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agro-Bio Technologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ph.D. (Anastasia Paymulina), and Professor of the Higher Institute of Engineering and Technology Delta (El-Sayed M. Kenawy) participated as members of the scientific team.

The presented results prove the applicability of ultrasonic treatment as a tool for obtaining a bioactive colloidal Pickering emulsion system using brown algae and flax cellulose polysaccharides as structuring components. Based on the results of the conference, the materials of scientific developments will be made publicly available on the Elsevier's Scopus platform.
