SUSU Activist Working on the Front Line of Rosatom's Construction Site in Turkey

Anna Odintsova, a sixth-year graduate of the Institute of Architecture and Construction, has shared the story of her career in the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

During her student years, Anna accumulated professional experience through construction teams. She participated as an expert of student teams at the International Construction Championship in Sochi, was the supervisor of the student Department of As-built Documentation at the All-Russian Construction Site in Ozersk, and was chosen to work at the Ruppur International Nuclear Power Plant construction site in Bangladesh. Since January Anna has served as the leading specialist in the Department of As-built Documentation and is preparing construction documents for the construction of a nuclear island in Turkey.

"The decision to move was made quickly, because it would have been inexcusable to miss out on the opportunity to gain tremendous experience in the construction industry. In my student years I was always an activist, and the leadership skills that South Ural State University instilled in me are a great help in coping with the large volume of work. My opinion is that we should not refuse the opportunities that the university gives us and we shouldn’t be afraid to study and develop in different directions, because all roads are open before us", said Anna, sharing her impressions.

The Institute of Architecture and Construction activist interned for one semester in China as part of an exchange program. In 2018–2019 she was a master for the Student Labour Teams of SUSU. She won the Student of the Year - 2020 Award and a scholarship of the Chelyabinsk Region Governor. She has organized many Russian and international conferences and championships.

The first of the four power units is planned to be put into service in 2023, so there is still a lot of work to be done. Future graduates should note that the facility employs about 12,000 staff at a time, which means that many different kinds of specialists are needed, from estimators and accountants to design engineers and nuclear power plant operation specialists.
