What Are the Results of the 2021 Admission Campaign?

South Ural State University is the most famous university in South Urals and no wonder international students choose it to get their education. The university offers programs of different degrees and also a student can choose a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program taught in English.

For many years South Ural State University broadens its international connections. The university has agreements with international universities, transnational corporations, and the largest manufacturing companies from all over the world, develops academic mobility and offers dual degree master’s programs with Clark University (USA), Lapeenranta University of Technology (Finland), and Sichuan University (China) and actively invites international students to study here.

That’s why every summer during the admission campaign the university gets lots of applications from people wishing to study in Chelyabinsk at SUSU. And at the end of August they come here to live and to study.

Nowadays more than 2300 international students from 52 countries study at South Ural State University in various degree programs and areas of study. The most number of students have come from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Egypt. This year the university welcomes international students from new countries such as Germany, Venezuela, Mauritania and Togo.

The popularity of Russian universities may be explained not only by the high standards of education, but also by the opportunity to get a scholarship for studies.

Every year Russian universities start admission of international students who are willing to get education in Russia within the quota allocated by the Government. It means that a student doesn’t need to pay for education because the government will fund it, moreover he will get a scholarship during the period of studying. The aim of the program is to increase the number of international students in Russia and attract gifted applicants to Russian universities.

To get the information about the quota a person should visit the site of Rossotrudnichestvo or request the information from the Russian Embassy in the country of an applicant. After all the documents are ready, just fill in the application form in education-in-Russia.com. For the application there is a list of requirements:

● certified copies of a credit book (starting from the second year students),

● the passport and the copy translated to Russian,

● the certificate of the previous education,

● a testimonial given by the Department (for students who are currently studying at SUSU),

● a medical certificate with the test results for HIV (which may be a separate certificate), AIDS, hepatitis and tuberculosis,

● diplomas, certificates and other documents proving merits in extracurricular, sports or research activities.

After the documents are sent, an applicant needs to wait for the answer. This year applications are accepted until November 25 (for CIS countries, Abkhasia and South Ossetia) and December 15 (for other countries).

Many students from China and Iraq choose SUSU to study within the quota. And during the last years students from Zimbabwe and Kazakhstan come here more often than before.

It’s never too late to get a new level of education. The example of Darla Marie Hansen proves it. Darla is the oldest SUSU student aged 77. She came from the United States of America for a Master’s Degree at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communication in the program Philology. Russian Language in Business Communication.

I arrived in Russia to visit my friend. I wanted to study Russian for a long time and here in Chelyabinsk I learnt about such a program at SUSU. The language program is good. The teachers are great and help at any time. Besides teaching, they give us great advice on how to live in Chelyabinsk. They take us to the museums, the ballet, snowboarding and other places. I really like the atmosphere here,” shares Darla.

If international students don’t feel ready to study in Russian, they may be enrolled in the SUSU Foundation Program. This course will get them prepared for their undergraduate or postgraduate course. Nowadays there are 61 students from Algeria, Bangladesh, China, Cuba, Egypt, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Korea, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Yemen studying Russian to continue their education then at South Ural State University.

To help students get used to the peculiarities of life in Russia there are the International Student Tutoring Team, Center for Sociocultural Adaptation and Association of International Students and Alumni. Tutors help meet the applicants, check them into the dormitories, submit documents to the admissions office, and to get to know the city. CSA and AISA create comfortable conditions for students at the University, and in dormitories, organize different events and holidays for students to help them feel at home.

Even after getting his degree every international graduate can remain a part of the university and join Global Alumni Alliance to exchange experience and keep up with the university's current activity.
