Alexey Texler Met with SUSU First-year Students

Today the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler has held an open lecture for highest-scoring first-year students of South Ural State University. The lecture was devoted to the life of the region and its development.

In his opening remarks, the head of the region greeted the students and spoke about his student years:

"I remember how I first came to my university. I still remember the days of my student life with warmth: university friends, attending classes. I wish you a bright and interesting student life as well!"

During the lecture, Alexey Texler noted the importance of studying modern technologies. The task of our country and our region is to become a leader in the development of high technologies. IT, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity are now in the top of the most demanded fields. There are many new technologies that can and should be dealt with. This is our future. And the technological race between large companies and even countries of the world is already underway. Those regions where the educational component becomes the leading one will receive a serious technological advantage.

"To create such an environment is one of the tasks that we are facing today," emphasized Alexey Texler.

He also noted that today special attention is paid to environmental issues and provision of urban amenities, so that people wished to live in our region. There are many projects devoted to the renovation of the city of Chelyabinsk.

Another important task, according to the head of the region, is the total renewal of the public transport. One of the most important events will be the further construction and completion of the metro and tram network, which the city has been engaged in for over 30 years now. The infrastructure will be updated along with the public transport. This year alone, more than 150 new buses will appear in Chelyabinsk. It is impossible to imagine a modern urban environment without modern public transport, and every effort is being made to develop transport networks not only in Chelyabinsk, but throughout the region.

After the speech of the head of the region, the freshmen were able to ask questions of interest and get comprehensive answers.

Danil, a first-year student at SUSU, asked at what stage the development of residential buildings in the city is.

Alexey Texler said that many projects for the integrated development of territories will be implemented in the region; new comfortable housing will be built. In the coming months, about three such projects will be announced. In addition, work on urban gardening is now underway: trees and shrubs are planted, new lawns appear.

Uliana, a first-year student from Magnitogorsk, asked about the role of humanitarian workers in the development of the region.

According to Alexey Texler, he does not support the debate about the importance of either physicists or lyricists. It is impossible to prioritize any of the directions. In the Chelyabinsk Region strong focus is placed on the development of the cultural component. For example, a children's philharmonic hall will open soon, and the "Russia Is My History" Park, which tells about the history of our country and our region in an interesting interactive format, is actively developing. The plans include the construction of new cultural and public spaces. To solve these problems, the region needs graduates of humanitarian specialties. There is a great demand for the cultural and social development in the region.

Danil, a first-year student at SUSU, asked if the infrastructure of Chelyabinsk City Bor (the territory of pine forest) will be developed.

"Chelyabinsk City Bor is an absolutely unique phenomenon. Natural, living forest, which is located almost in the centre of the city. Our task is to keep the Bor unchanged. Of course, it should be accessible to residents. We need to find the right balance between the developed infrastructure and the natural state of the pine forest," said the Governor.

The question of the ecological situation in the city is topical for everyone. Anastasiia, a first-year student at SUSU, asked about this.

"To create such an environment is one of the tasks that we are facing today," emphasized Alexey Texler.

The question of the ecological situation in the city is topical for everyone. Anastasiia, a first-year student at SUSU, asked about this.

Alexey Texler agreed that this is one of the highest priority tasks. In addition to working with factories and large-scale industries, work is underway to solve the problem of landfills. The Chelyabinsk city dump burned quite often, and this led to tons of emissions into the air of our city. It took 2 years to reclaim the Chelyabinsk city dump: the dump was covered with film, a drainage system was installed. The work will be completed in September. In addition, work is underway on a waste disposal and sorting project. More than 60% of the waste is planned to be utilized.

Aleksandr, a first-year student at SUSU from Plast, raised the topic of the development of nuclear power in the region.

"During the war, more than 200 enterprises were evacuated to our region, together with specialists and scientists. By the end of the war, it became necessary to create atomic weapons, which were produced in the Chelyabinsk Region: enrichment, the creation of the product itself. There are already large Rosatom enterprises in the region, and we are actively cooperating with them. An agreement was recently reached to establish a new educational centre for Master's degree students. In our country, nuclear power is among of the most important ones. More than 20% of energy is produced by nuclear power plants. We, in turn, provide scientific support. As I said, there are already Rosatom enterprises in our region. We are actively involved in scientific developments, which are then used in the nuclear industry throughout our country," said the head of the region.

The Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler concluded the meeting with the freshmen with the following parting words:

"The main thing is to love what you do. This will enable you to succeed in your career and in life. Good luck, guys!"

According to the feedback from the attendees, the meeting was very informative. Complicated things were talked about in a simple way, very important topics were touched upon: education, healthcare, ecology, city improvement, and the future of our region.

"It was interesting for me to communicate with the guys. I heard their questions, I liked that there is interest in how the city and region will develop. Our students are also concerned with the urban environment and ecology. This is a genuine interest, and here I see the future of our region. Thanks to such students, the region will develop," said the head of the region.

The meeting of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region with the SUSU first-year students was broadcast live on the SUSU Telegram channel.
