SUSU Students of Elite Training Groups Received Graduation Certificates

Today, on July 2nd, a graduation ceremony for the graduates of the elite training of the 2020-2021 academic year has been held at South Ural State University.

The ceremony was attended by the SUSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrey Radionov, Deputy Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Marina Potapova, Director of the Centre of Elite Education Aleksandr Drozin and Deputy Director of the Centre of Elite Education Elena Kurkina.

This year, 155 students trained in the elite education system are graduating from SUSU. Students of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, the School of Medical Biology, the School of Economics and Management, the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications, the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities underwent elite training in an elective format, and graduates of the Institute of Architecture and Construction, the Institute of Law and the School of Economics and Management studied in the main Bachelor's and Specialist degree programmes that included additional disciplines throughout the entire period of study.

The SUSU elite education system provides students with an additional useful high-level knowledge in comparison with standard educational programmes. Most of the students of elite training groups are former high-score applicants, and today they are holders of diplomas with honours and authors of research articles in highly-rated publications. They are the representatives of the SUSU scientific elite. Graduates who have received this education are considered by employers as the best candidates for the relevant positions.

"Elite education at SUSU is an excellent start to the career growth of our graduates. We hope that 2021 applicants with high Unified State Examination scores will take the baton and become participants in elite training at South Ural State University, which means they will start building their careers today!" says Elena Kurkina, Deputy Director of the Centre of Elite Education.

An alumnus of the Institute of Engineering and Technology Tatiana Bochkareva has graduated from the Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering with honours this year. After the first semester, the girl was invited to undergo additional training in an elite training group.

"I passed the first session with excellent marks, and together with other guys who did well in studies, we began our study in an elite training group," says Tatiana. "The curriculum included additional academic hours and disciplines as compared to the main educational programmes. We were given more in-depth knowledge of subjects, for example, we studied the features of the scientific style of the English language in order to successfully write research articles for international journals."

The girl underwent her pre-graduation practical training in the largest power generating company in Russia and the world, Rosseti, in a Nizhnevartovsk branch. Tatiana plans to work in her specialty and continue her studies at a Master's degree programme at SUSU.

Andrey Radionov awarded certificates to the graduates of the SUSU elite training and addressed the students with parting words:

"Congratulations on your successful graduation from the university. You have become not just specialists, you have undergone additional training, gained new knowledge and competencies, you have gained the most out of the university during your studies. Some of you have already found your way, someone is going to continue your studies. I want to wish all of you professional success, so that you achieve the goals that you set for yourself. May the business you are doing bring you great pleasure, and if this does not happen − do not be afraid to change your life! Go for it, go ahead and do not forget your alma mater, come back to us to gain new knowledge."

The project of elite education at South Ural State University was launched in 2016. Last year, the first graduation ceremony took place: students of elite training groups, in addition to higher education diplomas, received certificates of graduation in the elite education system.
