Where There Is a Spire on the Roof: an Excursion to the Observation Deck Organised for SUSU Students

On June 25th, an excursion to the observation deck was organized for SUSU students. On the occasion of Tatiana Day, Aleksandr Shestakov traditionally grants three wishes of students. Any SUSU student could write about his/her dream to the Rector in the official group of the university in VKontakte. All letters were reviewed by the Expert Council headed by the Rector; the most burning and important requests were selected. The excursion is the fourth wish of the students as part of the holiday.

“We hope that the students will get aesthetic pleasure from visiting this place, take selfies and memorable photos. It is important for the university to once again demonstrate its openness and the fact that we meet the needs and grant all the wishes of students if they are creative, not harmful, and are within our power,” says the SUSU Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Vyacheslav Burmatov.

A tour to the observation deck is quite a rare event, since it is not that easy to get to the spire. It can be visited only by truly distinguished guests of the university. The observation deck is one of the excursion points of the city, and often relevant departments and organisations address the SUSU leadership with requests to visit this place.

“I am a graduate, this year I am completing my Bachelor's degree in Chemical Technology. I have never been on the spire before. It was my dream already from my freshmen years. I really wanted to see all these beautiful views. It is awesome here, very cool. So guys, be as active as possible and never stop trying. It is worth it,” shared her impressions the SUSU student Anastasia Dorofeeva.

This year, within the frameworks of the celebration of Tatiana Day, the Rector of the university decided to grant four wishes: he presented a student with a book Simply Do It. Do It Simply by Oskar Hartmann; and planned to hold a "Generational Bridge" photo exhibition, and organize a separate waste collection at the university on a regular basis, and an excursion to the SUSU observation deck for students.
