SUSU Scientists Received Grant Support for Research from RFBR

A team of SUSU scientists have won a grant from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research for the fulfilment of a research project in the field of political and social sciences. The contest was held jointly by RFBR and the Social Research Expert Institute (EISI).

The strategic goal of the contest is to support research studies in the field of political and social sciences, form the conditions for the development of the politological community in Russia, as well as to integrate scientific knowledge into the processes of political decision making.

The contest for the best scientific projects on the basic research in the field of political and social sciences was announced in January of 2021. The total number of applications filed for the contest amounted to 865, from among which 139 projects received support from RFBR upon the results of the independent expert review.

Within 8 months, with the support from RFBR, the SUSU scientists supervised by Candidate of Sciences (Engineering) Iana Dobrynina, will begin to conduct their research on the "Influence of the new media on the population's perception of the environment condition as a factor of emerging eco-anxiety". The project aims at elaborating a theory and methodology of controlling the eco-anxiety of the population in big industrial cities, which emerges as a result of the influence of the information content of the new media, including revealing the main components of the public opinion, the main sources of the eco-anxiety, developing the methods, technology and models of diagnostics, correction and control of the anxiety related to the environment condition, as well as developing the methodology of managing the information content and the urban image of a big industrial city. The project's scope of financing will amount to 1.5 million roubles.
