Elsevier, the world's leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has announced the winners of the Research Excellence Award Russia. It is awarded to the Russian scientists most prominent in the international context. The list of laureates included Professor Denis Vinnik, Doctor of Sciences (Chemistry), Director of the Non-Conventional Materials and Resource-Saving Technologies Research Institute, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Physics and Chemistry of Materials of the Institute of Engineering and Technology of South Ural State University.

The award ceremony took place in Moscow yesterday, March 30th. Denis Vinnik took part in the event, and an online broadcast was also organized.

This award has been a complete surprise to me, since the monitoring and examination of the results of the work by the participants of the competition is carried out by the Elsiever company independently. Contestants are not required to submit any applications. Nevertheless, of course, I am very pleased with such news! This is a high-level international organisation that has highly praised the results of our team's work,” said Denis Vinnik.

The professor's research activity is related to the creation of new functional materials in mono- and polycrystalline form with a modified structure and “tuneable” properties. Particular attention is paid to materials based on barium ferrite, one of the most common oxide materials with an ever-growing practical potential.

Previously, Denis Vinnik had been awarded a reviewer certificate by another top foreign scientific publishing house. At the end of 2020, Denis Vinnik was recognized as an outstanding employee of South Ural State University. The professor was awarded a diploma in the Science nomination of the annual SUSU Recognition award.
