SUSU Students Win Yuri Maslyukov Scholarship Competition

Students of the Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering of the Institute of Engineering and Technology of South Ural State University Kseniia Semenova and Askar Kulganatov have become the winners of the competition for the Yuri Maslyukov Scholarship. The corresponding Order has been signed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov.

The scholarship named after a Russian statesman and politician Yuri Maslyukov was established by the Government of the Russian Federation. Every year 5 winners are announced within the framework of this competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

"For me, winning the competition is a pleasant surprise. Frankly speaking, this is a result of the team effort. For more than two years, together with the scientific advisor, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering) Evgenii Solomin, and postgraduates Alexei Miroshnichenko and Evgenii Gordievskii, we have been working on a unique product – a mobile energy complex based on renewable energy sources; more than fifty research articles have already been published. Therefore, winning the competition is a fair result of our fruitful and responsible work. I would like to thank the Head of the Department of Power Stations, Grids, and Electric Power Systems, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering) Irina Kirpichnikova, our scientific adviser, and teaching staff of the Department for their assistance and support. I believe that our project has a great future, and I hope that we will continue working on it at the university. Moreover, the university administration has created excellent conditions for conducting research – modern laboratories, access to computers, measurement benches. There is even a real wind turbine on the roof of one of the SUSU buildings! I wish all students not to be afraid to start creating something new and to achieve heights for the benefit of the university," Askar Kulganatov shared his impressions of the victory.

The following students can participate in the Scholarship Competition:

  • students majoring in Energy Generation, Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering; Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Material Processing; Aviation and Rocket and Space Technology; Weapons and Weapon Systems; Marine Technology; Vehicles; Instrument Making and Optical Engineering; Electronic and Radio Engineering and Communication; and Automation and Control;
  • students who only have grades "good" and "excellent" for the previous academic year;
  • students who are actively involved in research activities.

"I was offered to take part in the competition, and I agreed with pleasure. I included my research articles, which I had began writing in my third year, in the application form. During my studies, I took part in several Olympiads, and last year I became the winner of the UMNIK program. Of course, I am very happy with the victory and grateful to my scientific advisor, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor Yurii Usynin," said Kseniia Semenova.

We congratulate the students and wish them new scientific discoveries and victories!
