Director of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Lidiya Lobodenko Becomes Member of the Presidium of the Academic Methodological Council on Advertising and Public Relations

At the Media in Modern World. 59th Petersburg Readings scientific forum held at St Petersburg University, and in which staff members of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities took part, the Director of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities (IMSSH) Lidiya Lobodenko became a member of the Presidium of the Academic Methodological Council on Advertising and Public Relations.

The Academic Methodological Council on Advertising and Public Relations is a structural subdivision of the Federal Academic Methodological Association (FAMA) in the system of higher education on the extended major group 42.00.00 Mass Media and Information and Library Science and is currently uniting more than 200 universities in Russia, which offer programmes in Advertising and Public Relations.

SUSU subsequently started to train students in these specialities in 2000. Due to the fact that the specialities were united into a single field of training in 2011, the students were offered a common set of professional competencies, allowing them to perform effective work in the field of advertising, integrated communications and promotion. Considering the realities of the modern period of development of the media space, the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities today provides training for specialists in Advertising and Public Relations in New Media in accordance with the latest digital trends in the development of the speciality.

“Today, we are completing the work on an international interuniversity research project on Digital Civilization. Media Communications. Internet Marketing,” said one of the heads of the project, Director of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Professor Lidiya Lobodenko. “The project has combined the research studies by leading scientists in the field of strategic marketing communications from the universities of Russia, Belgium, and the USA. The project focuses on studying the links among the general civilizational processes of globalization, informatization and digitalization with the processes happening in the systems of communication with the use of media technologies, and is intended for researchers, specialists in the field of media communications and, of course, for students training in the Advertising and Public Relations programme.

Within the framework of the conference on Strategic Communications in Business and Politics (Panel Discussion on Technologies of Business PR and Corporate Communications), Lidiya Lobodenko presented a report on the topic of the Specifics of Content Planning in University Social Media.

According to the participants of the Academic Methodological Council meeting, the experience, creative projects and activities of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities as a whole will make a significant contribution to the work of the Academic Methodological Council on Advertising and Public Relations in creating new educational standards, curricula, educational and methodological complex; in organizing and conducting methodological and training workshops and conferences; in expert review of textbooks and resource books; and also in facilitating the improvement of the educational process and acquiring by students of a speciality with a multi-purpose range of professional competencies, from the creative development of an idea to the management of big-scale communication projects in the field of advertising and PR.
