SUSU to Celebrate International Translation Day

International Translation Day is celebrated September 30th. The holiday was officially established by the International Federation of Translators (FIT) in 1991. In 2017, Resolution No. A /RES/71/288, in which the role of professional translation in connecting nations and fostering peace, understanding and development is recognised, was unanimously adopted at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, and September 30th was declared the International Translation Day, celebrated within the framework of the UN.

In 2020, the holiday is celebrated under the motto: “Finding the words for a world in crisis”.

On this occasion, the SUSU Department of Linguistics and Translation is organizing the translation contest called the Translators' Fall Sprint 2020, which will take place online on the Prometheus Olympiad website on September 30th.

To participate in the contest, one should enter the Prometheus Olympiad website using login and password from the personal account in UNIVERIS (or login/password from the university Wi-Fi network). Registration is already open, the winners will be awarded prizes.

The results will be announced on October 30th, 2020.

Students of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications will be able to attend master classes held by Yaroslav Pisarev, Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogy) and practicing translator. He worked with Mike Tyson, Vitaly Mutko and other officials and non-officials. And he also acted as a leading translator of the 5th BRICS Young Scientist Forum, which has recently closed at SUSU.
