“Fresh Start”: Celebrations Performance at SUSU

The Matriculation Ceremony became especially memorable thanks to the creative approach of the Recreation Centre of South Ural State University.

The event took place under the slogan “Fresh Start”, which means a new student life for freshmen. Students will write new records, receive new knowledge that they have not yet mastered, so for them the doors to the university’s student life are opening for the first time.

“Today, everyone is in good spirit! We are glad to see happy and healthy students at our university. We have organized a creative Matriculation Ceremony for the students of 2020. We will all remember this Admissions Campaign for a long time. I wish you to study well and be successful!” said SUSU Rector Aleksander Shestakov.

At the main square in front of the South Ural State University, several photo zones were opened: a huge student card, large books on Geometry and History, as well as interactive platforms where one could write a wish on a white banner, or a letter to oneself of the future and receive it back later at the graduation ceremony.

“This is a long awaited day! So much time has passed without meetings with students, without greetings and communication. Of course, today is a great holiday for us, and we are extremely happy for everyone. For all the participants of the event, for the first time, a huge TV screen was installed, where the organizers broadcast everything that awaits students during several years of study,” said Olga Bragina, Artistic Director of the SUSU Recreation Centre.

Also during the event, a graffiti artist spray-painted an absolutely white three-dimensional cube. It also symbolizes the bright student life.

One of the participants of the celebration was Victoria Ilchenko, a 1st-year student of the Faculty of Journalism of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities. Since the 7th form she was dreaming of becoming a journalist and today her dream has come true.

“I chose SUSU because it is the most prestigious university in the Chelyabinsk Region, especially in the profession that I’ve chosen. A journalist is a person who can do multiple tasks here and there, which suits me perfectly. Therefore, I decided to obtain high-quality education and experience right here. I am very glad that I enrolled in SUSU!"

The first-year student noted that she plans to actively engage not only in science, but also in the extracurricular life of the university, attend different groups and sections and develop in the field of oratory and KVN.

In the evening, a festival of short films was held near the main building of SUSU. Students in a cosy atmosphere sat at the big screen and watched films with deep meaning.
