URAL FEST Forum to Be Held at SUSU for the Second Time

The application of South Ural State University for holding the second Ural Forum of International Students and Alumni “URAL FEST” has become one of the laureates of the All-Russian Contest of Youth Projects “Utro-2020” (“Morning 2020”).

Out of 477 applications for the All-Russian Contest of Youth Projects “Utro-2020” (“Morning 2020”) 414 were admitted to be defended online, and 37 forum participants became winners. Valeria Chachina, Specialist of the International Student Support of the SUSU International Office received a grant in the amount of 640 thousand roubles for the organization of the second Ural Forum of International Students and Alumni “URAL FEST” at South Ural State University.

The first Ural Forum of International Students and Alumni “URAL FEST” was successfully held at SUSU in 2019. It became the only event of this format in the Chelyabinsk Region and a platform for communication between international and Russian students of the Ural region.

“Our application was thoroughly elaborated, the details of the project were specified and the goal was clearly set. The strong point of the project is the experience of the team of the Association of International Students (the first URAL FEST forum was held in November 2019) and experienced partners: Global Alumni Alliance, Trade Union Organization, and Resource Centre for Youth. This year we are planning to introduce new formats of collaboration among participants and our experts and coaches in order to achieve the maximum result,” commented on the victory in the competition Valeria Chachina.

The organizers expect the forum to become an annual event. The key event will be a strategic session with international students and representatives of the universities of the Ural Federal District. The managers of the project are representatives of the Global Alumni Alliance, and experts: professional coaches who will train moderators for holding the strategic session.

The “URAL FEST” aims to increase the level of tolerant attitude of students towards each other, therefore, it is planned to hold cultural events: a creative concert-festival that contributes to learning about world cultures, events aimed at obtaining new “soft skills”, and a sports event to promote healthy lifestyle and popularization of sports.

International students of Russian universities and spectators from Chelyabinsk and other regions are expected at the forum. Following that, a resolution will be presented with proposals to improve the process of working with international students and alumni of higher educational institutions. It will be sent to the universities of the Ural Federal District, since the improvement of the “student-university-graduate” collaboration is the main goal of the project.
