SUSU Launches Educational Programmes of Samsung IT Academy

In the new academic year, the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science of South Ural State University jointly with Samsung is launching two courses: Artificial Intelligence, and Mobile Development.

Samsung IT Academy is an educational project of the company, within the framework of which students of Russian universities can acquire practical skills in the most demanded areas of information technology. Three educational tracks include areas of the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Development.

Since 2018, the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science has been offering the Internet of Things course. The best student ideas participated in the interuniversity Internet of Things project competition organized by Samsung. One project took second place in the Business and Society category, another one won the Grand Prix of the competition.

The Artificial Intelligence course is built on the study of real cases in the first semester, and the creation of projects by students in the second semester. The course's feature is quick practical immersion and career guidance in machine learning technologies and neural networks. At the end of the training, students will take part in a project competition. The jury will evaluate the software and engineering components, as well as the uniqueness of the solutions and the practical applicability of the development.

The Mobile Development course includes five training modules aimed at teaching students the object-oriented Java language and programming language for mobile applications, as well as developing the server side of mobile applications. A prerequisite for obtaining a certificate is the creation of a mobile application on the Android platform. At the end of the training, students will take part in the annual interuniversity competition of mobile applications. Competitions include such categories as Game Application, Social Project, and Programming. Representatives of other Samsung partner universities will be invited as members of the jury.

All the courses are designed for one year and will be available for students of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science for free.
