SUSU Admissions Campaign Began: Interview with the First Applicant

On June 20, the SUSU Admissions Campaign began actively functioning. Anton Bubnov became the first applicant of our university. He submitted his documents for the Master’s degree programme in Tourism to the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service.

We asked the first applicant a couple of questions:

— Please, tell us a little bit about yourself: what you do, what your hobbies are?

— I'm 37 years old. I'm working as the head of the Department for the Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of the Arkaim Natural Reserve (to put it simply, in the Department of Tourism). I started working at the Natural Reserve in 2006, almost right after I had graduated from the university. My career at the Natural Reserve began with volunteering, I worked on the reconstruction of museum objects, and also worked as a guide, and at the reception at the front office. And finally I “got promoted” to a top manager. In general, almost all of my working activities are somehow connected with tourism.
I have plenty of hobbies: music, cars, football (PFC CSKA Moscow), popularization of science, cooking (two years ago I obtained a diploma of a chef). Currently, I am putting most of my free time and part of my working time to the project of the Arkaim Natural Reserve: Arkaim On-line. This is a scientific and educational project with podcasts dedicated to Arkaim, various historical events and the philosophy of historical knowledge. This is probably my main “hobby” right now.

— As far as I know, you are applying for a Master’s degree programme. Please, tell us about your first higher education and place of study.

— I graduated from the institute in 2006 (the History speciality, and the Archaeology specialization). The sphere of interests was archaeology, ethnography, anthropology. My graduate qualification work was on the Tattoos in a Traditional Society.

— Which SUSU speciality did you choose, and why were you interested in it?

— I submitted my documents to the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service for the Tourism programme. As I have mentioned earlier, I've been engaged in tourism, as a major specialization, for 14 years now. And I just also wanted to study at a university again.

— Could you tell us, if it is not a secret, why you chose South Ural State University?

— Over the many years your university has proven to be among the best at training highly professional specialists. Its academic staff members are top professionals. This university is also a very prestigious one.
