On June 10th, the British ratings agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published its World University Rankings 2021, which included the best universities around the world. South Ural State University maintained its position in this ranking (801–1000) and improved its results in significant indicators, what speaks about the steady development and improvement of the university’s competitiveness.

QS World University Rankings is one of the most authoritative university rankings. When compiling it, the analysts comprehensively evaluate the work of higher education institutions. QS has been publishing its rankings of the best universities around the world since 2004, evaluating academic institutions against 6 criteria. Among these are: academic reputation (40% of the points total), teacher to student ratio (20%), citation index (20%), reputation among employers (10%), percentage of international students (5%), and percentage of international teaching staff (5%).

SUSU saw improvement in the academic reputation, percentage of international teaching staff, and teacher-to-student ratio, which is explained by the targeted work in these fields. By the teacher-to-student ratio indicator, SUSU is the 358th among several thousand universities.

One of the most important indicators in the ranking is the academic reputation, and SUSU is improving its position in this category year after year. The recognition by the international academic community speaks of the university’s high level of competitiveness and of the excellent results of its research activity. Improving the reputation and recognition of the university is a difficult and long process, to which every university employee makes a contribution. This is reflected by the worldwide recognition by the academic community, students, and applicants who are planning on enrolling in a world-class university.

Over the last few years, SUSU has significantly improved its standing in many rankings. You can learn more about the major university of the South Ural region and one of Russia’s leading universities in the international research and education space by clicking this link.
