Times Higher Education international rankings agency continues to publish the results of the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2020.
This year, for the first time, South Ural State University has been included in the THE Physical Sciences ranking by subject, where it took the position 801+ among the world universities training specialists in the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, chemistry, nanotechnologies, Earth sciences, etc.
“The year of 2019 has turned out a very productive one for SUSU in terms of the university’s activity assessment by the Times Higher Education ranking agency. We have achieved a whole number of successful results: for the first time our university has been included in the THE Impact Ranking, in the THE World University Rankings, and in two rankings by subject: Engineering and Technology, as well as Physical Sciences, which has been published today. We definitely plan to keep moving forward and aim at strengthening our standing in the coming year of 2020,” comments Head of the Academic Rankings Promotion Andrey Kocherov.
The level of the achievements of universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject is assessed based on the results of the statistical analysis of the university activity, as well as on the results of the annual global expert survey among the representatives of the international academic community and employers. Like the general world ranking, the ranking by subject assesses universities against 13 indicators grouped into 5 categories: the level of teaching, the quality of research and the volume of citation in research, the university’s involvement in innovative processes and global research. At the same time, these criteria have different values as compared to the general world rankings criteria and take the specifics of particular scientific fields into consideration.
