SUSU Sports Club Is Declared Champion by the Association of Russian Student Sports Clubs

The All-Russian Finals of the Championship of the Association of Russian Student Sports Clubs was held in Kazan May 29th through June 2nd. The honour of SUSU and Uralsky Sokol (Ural Falcon) Student Sports Club was being defended by four teams: men’s and women’s 3х3 basketball teams, men’s volleyball and men’s football teams.
The best student teams were competing for three days. The Uralsky Sokol football team made it to the quarterfinals, but then in close competition lost to the team from Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Unlike the women’s 3х3 basketball team, the men’s team had better luck in the tournament – they easily qualified from their group, confidently beat all their competitors in play-off, and became champions of the top division. And Sergei Nazarchuk was also named as the Most Valuable Player.
In volleyball, the breaking point took place in the semifinals, where the Sokol’s men’s team were playing against the team from Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. The team from Kazan had better luck in the third round. And in the bronze medal match against Southern Federal University our team became winners. The team player Anton Filatov was named as the best setter as a result of the tournament.

“These finals have become a very important event – the first, in the Uralsky Sokol’s history, victory in the 3х3 basketball finals in the Championship of the Association of Russian Student Sports Clubs,” note the Club members.
