The Online International Science-to-practice Conference on Journalism of Regions: Discourses and Media Practices was organised at the initiative of Tomsk State University. The Faculty of Journalism of South Ural State University was represented by Anvar Ismailov, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Candidate of Sciences (Philosophy).
Anvar Ismailov is a member of the National Association of Mass Media Researchers and the Russian Philosophical Society. His research interests include journalism education, multimedia technologies, multi-purpose journalism, ethical and legal support of mass media, and anthropological aspects of journalism. At the conference Anvar Ismailov delivered a presentation on the Image and Modern Media Praxis of Regional Internet Mass Media of Russia, followed by a lively discussion on the online broadcast. The works at the Media Practices and Audience Research section was very active, and the research on adolescent media practices was presented there. Aleksandr Gradyushko, a researcher from Belarus, spoke about Belarus regional mass media and the growing dependence on Yandex.Zen. The participants of the online international science-to-practice conference also heard theses about the new trends of journalism development in the Republic of Bashkortostan, research on regional socio-political publications, editorial work on regional radio broadcasts, and other reports.
“This kind of communication with media professionals in journalism and journalism education from Russia and abroad makes it possible to more thoroughly understand the processes occurring today in the field of the means of mass information, which have already practically completed the process of convergence and are beginning to work actively in the conditions of transmedia. Understanding of this situation allows to correctly determine the vectors of development of modern journalism education,” summarises the results of the conference Anvar Ismailov.
