SUSU Student Sports Camp is to Celebrate its Anniversary

Summer is coming which means the time has come to think about how to spend the warm time of the year both joyfully and useful. One doesn't need to travel far or spend a lot of money: SUSU’s Sports and Recreation Complex invites to choose the type of leisure that you like.

The Complex, including Berezka Children’s Recreation Camp, Olimp Sports and Recreation Camp and Nauka Recreationl Compound, is located in one of the most beautiful places of South Ural – at the coast of the Bolshoy Sunukul lake, in foresta area of the Nepryakhino settlement of the Chelyabinsk region’s Chebarkul district.

Olimp Sports and Recreation Camp

Olimp Students’ Sports and Recreation Camp has comfortable wooden cabins with comfy furniture. Among students, the Camp became well-known as a wonderful place where one can spend some leisure time, take care of one’s health, find new friends and have a lively time. Actively developing infrastructure and modern relevant programs contribute to this opinion.

The Camp has themed sessions dedicated to development of artistic abilities and soft skills, arranges meetings of student associations and student councils. During each camp session, students enjoy active leisure, sport and public mass events, learning useful skills and being in a unity with nature.

The program of meetings of student associations is always filled with colorful events, flash mobs and sport competitions targeted at consolidation of teams and enhcancement of friendly competitiveness about the unions.

One of the sessions will be creative, directly connected with arts. Students who have artistic hobbies inside the university and off-campus will be able not only to improve their skills but also obtain some new ones. For example, those who practice dancing can come to Olimp and not just enhance their qualification in this area but also visit master-classes in vocals, painting and playing musical instruments.

In the result of the creative session students will have to present one big project. Whether it will be a musical, a movie or something else is a secret so far.

“We have many athletes coming for the fourth session. They are getting ready for the autumn competition season: start training and getting fit. Representatives of the students’ mentorship system are also expected to come. Also, we invite everyone who wants to develop their soft skills. Under supervision of the Head of the students’ mentorship system, Arina Badalova, students will be practicing their ability to communicate, make self-presentation, construct a dialogue, and carry out a discussion. This can be applicable in everyday life as well as in study, research activity, searching for a job and employment,” says Head of Olimp Sports and Recreation Camp, Veronika Livonchik.

This year, the students’ Camp is celebrating its 60th anniversary, therefore teaching staff, graduates and students will have the opportunity to recall all significant events in the history of Olimp. Preparation for celebration is going at full speed now, specifically, leadership of the Camp has started a campaign for collecting stories of students, teaching staff and graduates about their life episodes connected with Olimp. For example, someone met his future wife during a camp session, or someone’s parents used to visit the Camp.

“We want to put up tents just like it used to be initially, so that students could feel the spirit of Olimp. We are planning to invite a lot of guests so that they could see how much Olimp has changed. Besides, we keep improving the staying conditions: we replace most of beds, repair the restroom, install one more shower cabin, washing machines; we are also planning to equip a comfortable leisure area. The plans are grandiose!” says Veronika Livonchik.
