SUSU International Students Take Part in Russian Language Game

The awards ceremony for the game “The Language of the Country You Live In” was held at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications.

Participants of the contest were international master’s students of SUSU’s institutes and higher schools as well as students of the Russian as a Foreign Language Department studying in the program entitled “Preparation for university admissions”.

The game was dedicated to International Women’s Day. The contestants, who speak Russian on an elementary level, had to find words and phrases that relate to females: sister, mother, grandmother, woman, girl, the fair sex, goddesses, housewife, and more.

Master’s students of the main departments and the ILIC, as well as international students of more advanced groups, had to complete more difficult assignments dedicated to testing their knowledge of Russian holidays and symbols of Russian culture.

“This year more than 200 international students took part in the game from China, Jordan, Iraq, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, the Congo, Syria, Mexico, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Korea, Sudan, and more,” notes Yadviga Berezovskaya, head of the research and coordinating center, the Pushkin Institute.

Contests winners received a certificate and commemorative prizes with the university’s logo.
