Archeologist of SUSU gave a lecture at the Free University of Berlin

The senior research associate of the Research and Educational Center for Eurasian Studies of SUSU A.V. Epimakhov gave an open lecture in one of the highly authoritative universities of Western Europe the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universitat) on November 23, 2015. This event was a part of the program within the research project financed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The professor of the Institute of Prehistoric Archeology Elke Kaiser took the lead in this event.

The academic interests of the professor Kaiser are concerned with studies of the Bronze Age in Eastern Europe, therefore she is included in the editorial board of the Bulletin of SUSU, series: Social and Humanitarian Sciences. She is a coauthor of several scientific works together with the professor A.V. Epimakhov.

The main topic of the lecture was the Bronze Age in the Urals, the history of which is closely related with different parts of Eurasia, including Central Europe. The development of Ural metallurgy, fortification construction and use of chariots provoked listeners’ interest, including specialists, postgraduate and undergraduate students. Their earliest traces have been revealed as a result of excavations in the steppe zone of the Trans-Urals, including those in which A.V. Epimakhov acted as a supervisor. The speaker offered not only the presentation of new materials, but also his conception which synthesizes different information on this period. Despite the fact that the event took place in the capital city of Germany, the working language was English as the universal language of science. The parties agreed to maintain profound cooperation.
